[dev1065] Relic/Mythic/Empyrean Weapon Upgrades
By Makado 2012-01-25 21:45:11
All these 95 relics runnin around and your saying relic is harder, naw wrong. Last 2 stages of Emps are ridiculous relics have it ez up until 99 version. And rift doesn't drop like rain sad to say ive done nothing but VW since it came out i currently have one dross let's keep it real. By the time some one has a 99 version of anything we'll have flying cars. Also @ a whopping 57 plates i'll buy a few here and there not spending 100k for 1450 of em lulz.

I really don't know why anyone is shocked at these trials. I knew it was just going to be less of these items for stage one than it is for stage 2.
Also, I wouldn't be to hopeful of SE making the numbers lower. Prob just the same if not more.
By Latifah 2012-01-25 21:50:48
Harder? The only thing relics really require is gil.. unless you honestly consider the small time NMs as a challenge? At least for empyreans you have to kill NMs a lot of times. Relics are only limited by the players pocket and servers currency supply. farming 150+ gil several times to afford a relic is hard and very time consuming unlike emps can be done in 1 or 4 days unlike relics, the only hard ones are vereng, ukons , twashant
By Makado 2012-01-25 21:55:42
That's nice still 5 lev off from all the relics runnin around how long will that take. Relics already workin on 99 versions while 99% of emps are still 90, no weapon wins in time.
By Makado 2012-01-25 21:59:08
You seem to think plates drop like namis currency you are so wrong.

Well even if you were buying plates for 200k, which is way more than people sell them for, it would still cost less to upgrade empyrean. There are tons of plates in bazaars from my experience, it's just that most are overpriced.
And the drop rate on pouches is really not that bad.

Leviathan.Phenomena said: »Ragnarok.Harpunnik said: »Leviathan.Phenomena said: »Ragnarok.Harpunnik said: »Ragnarok.Harpunnik said: »I dunno, I think a talented person could certainly solo an empy to 90. I'm thinking BST :D Only because you're talking about old *** content, not at lvl cap though. Soloing carabosse with her spamming cures with a single atma, low hp and no razed ruins would be impossible even for a bst or soloing glavoid at 80 etc /cringe talent or not
But this is a moot point now, since the cap is no longer 80, and hasn't been for a very long time. My memory is also fuzzy but for a while after abyssea came out you'd be hard pressed to solo a relic in the old style dynamis at level cap 80.
also yes a bst can solo some (idk if all, doubt ochain) to 90. anyone can solo in dynamis. which means you have to have bst lvld with all its pdt gear. so the average player or one without bet will have a very hard time soloing their empy to 90. if they even can. while anyone can kill ep-dc mobs in dynamis for currency.
:)
Ok sorry was hard to read that. >.<
Can you restate - not trying to be a grammar nazi, just honestly had a tough time understanding your point.
Yes i can, sorry. Mac was annoying me with all its auto-corrects.
Yes BST can solo some empy weapons to 90 (I don't know if they can solo all. So by what you say, You have to have BST lvld and with good gear ( They need PDT armor for their pets) to solo an EMPY.
But anyone can solo inside of dynamis because its not difficult to and you don't need a certain job to. and like you have already stated. you jump in, Farm for 2 hours, Then jump out. its simple. yes it will take you months to get the currency.
But most will have a terrible time soloing a EMP weapon. and even more will not even be able to complete one because they don't have the skill or the jobs.
So if your talking about soloing a relic/emp. then i say a emp is harder if not impossible for some ppl.
and low man requires some skill for a emp while low manning dynamis is easy. And I'm not saying that it takes much skill to be able to low man a emp to 90.. but some of those ppl playing atm... lol
Well I wish I had more experience farming stuff in abyssea with BST. My BST relies more heavily atm on EVA than PDT because I mainly use it in abyssea. However I don't think BST is the only job that could solo a lot of the mobs at 99 either. That being said getting BST to 99 and gearing it decently doesn't take much time at all, I'd argue most people could have a decent BST within a week. Also - I can tell you from finishing Aegis, you are going to have a hell of a time getting to 95 in a few runs too, because the drop rate on pops without TH seem horrendous >.<
But I see your point - Empy is harder bc few jobs can solo it, relic is easier bc anyone can solo it. I just counter saying that leveling a job and decently gearing it, and slapping atmas on that make sense takes little effort. Going in with a job that can't stagger quickly and afterward kill quickly is going to make your path that much "harder."
Bottom line, I <3 my aegis - and I'm willing to take on the crazy challenge perhaps and mythics are harder than empy or relic - even if you have the gil, hunting down alex can be quite the chore!

What? 200,000 x 1500 is CRAZY gil... lol

Believe me i check to see if i can find some cheap plates not alot of ppl have em for sale. I've also done all t3 t6 100's of times and 1 pouch out of all my runs and a total of 20 singles. if i were to buy all the plates i need it would be 145mil at the least at 100k each how is that cheaper.

I was currently buying plates at 100k each and the amount of time I invest in just checking baazar isn't worth it. You rarely find anyone selling at 100k and if you do its 1-3 plates. I made more progress in a day buying at 110k than buying plates for 2 weeks at 100k. I'll just pay 15m more not to deal with checking baazar every day for a year.

This is my theory. Se is tired of ffxi and introduce balance and ridiculous Trials to discourage and piss of players so they can either convert us to 14 or work on something new ffxi is old as hell how much more can they do.

Thats my general thought, theyre either too stupid or lazy to make anything new so why not a endless time sink to milk it for w/e they can.

An absolutely horrible business decision. It is, however, rather convenient that all of this is happening en masse just as FFXIV's subscription is reinstated. If everyone from XI goes over to XIV after this just to get *** again before 2.0 and seeing if the game becomes decent, and moreover expects any better treatment over there, I feel bad for you all.

Are you guys really going to quit because you can't get a mostly useless buff on a weapon?
That being said - for the first trial, that requires less items, how about some suggestions on how to efficiently farm them? I'm debating some ideas with friends in game already instead of lamenting!

You can't make it any more efficient unless you're planning on bringing more than the massive amount of people that you already require to complete this task.

Also just backread a bit, people seem to have serious issues dividing "difficult" and "time consuming". If making gil is hard for you then you have big problems.
And before anyone tries to pull the "lul you don't have a relic if it's so easy why don't you have??" on me, I don't give a ***about any job besides BLU.
And it's 15%. 25 -> 40 = 15% hard increase in WS damage, or a 37.5% increase from the previous 25 (that does not mean that it's a 37.5% increase in damage).

The 95 to 99 trials are actually very reasonable.
I'm not sure why everyone was expecting to have lvl 99 version weapons off top. It's basically the status of lvl 75 relic/mythic now -- very few will have them. Even less will be crazy enough to obtain a lvl 99 v2 weapon.
Boy, 20 ADLs is a kick in the balls though. They could have easily made it 10 and still have a minor bottleneck.

I'm talking the afterglow, if you think the first trial is hard and will take 2 years to do, well I don't know what comment I could add that would be polite.

This. It seems kind of paranoid to assume that SE is trying to annoy people at FFXI to get them to play XIV. There's better ways to go about it if that really were their objective lol.

| [dev1065] Relic, Mythic, and Empyrean Weapon Upgrades
With the forthcoming version update, players will be able to upgrade equipment to level 99 in two stages:
Stage 1
Possible upgrades will include damage, delay, and weapon skill damage along with other attributes.
The planned difficulty level for the corresponding Magian upgrade trials will be such that a majority of players with the appropriate level 95 equipment will likely be able to complete them.
*This content is not yet available on the test server.
Step 2
Possible upgrades will include special animations along with "Afterglow" effects that grant status benefits to party members.
The corresponding Magian trials will be exceedingly difficult to complete, such that only a select number of PCs will be able to upgrade weapons to this stage.
*Gjallarhorn and Daurdabla may not be imbued with Afterglow effects.
Upgraded Attributes
Please refer to the following charts for descriptions of upgraded weapon attributes:
To test this content, please talk to the Magian Moogle and input the corresponding trial number, as listed in the charts above.
Afterglow
Upgrading a weapon to stage two will result in the addition of an Afterglow effect.
Afterglow bestows beneficial status effects upon party members in an area surrounding (but excluding) the wielder.
*Party members must be inside the specified area when Afterglow is activated to receive status effects.
The duration for each Afterglow is thirty seconds.
*The effect of a certain Afterglow will be overwritten if an identical one is activated within that thirty-second timeframe.
Separate Afterglow effects will stack if they are cast within the same effect duration.
There are five categories of Afterglow effects:
- Relic Weapons: Increased accuracy and ranged accuracy
- Mythic weapons: Increased attack and ranged attack
- Empyrean weapons: Increased critical hit rate
- Aegis: Reduced magic damage taken
- Ochain: Reduced physical damage taken
Afterglow effects activate when the weapon skill corresponding to the equipped weapon
For Aegis and Ochain, the effects activate when Shield Bash is used.
The hierarchy for overwriting Aftermath and Afterglow effects is as follows:
One's Own Aftermath: Lv3>Lv2>Lv1>Party Member's Afterglow
Visual Effects
Weapons upgraded to stage two will display special visual effects when equipped:
Relic Weapons

Mythic Weapons

Empyrean Weapons

Visual effects will display in the following priority:
Main Weapon>Ranged Weapon>Sub Weapon
Other Information of Note
Additional planned features, such as equipment-specific magic spells and pets, have been postponed to allow for more thorough testing concerning attributes, the number of potential users and the process by which to obtain them. One consideration is whether to implement such features as another stage of the above upgrades, or to apply them to a different set of equipment. Also under deliberation is whether to limit the availability of such equipment or make it relatively simple to obtain.
