just saying .bmp is a crappy format in comparison, not sure what would be better. I didn't pay that much attention last semester in two classes that went over picture formats. :D

It's basically a 1:1 ratio with the current video mode.

Why not go with PNG format? I mean it works well for things. BMP might make it run worse? I always found BMP files are much larger then PNG. If you are testing it out maybe run a comparison between the two.

I was trying to tell him to. But if .bmp is easier to work with right now, meh.

From what I understand BMP is what your frame buffer is. Any other format will require extra processing into BMP to write to it.
