Which craft?
I didn't know DNC was a craft! :P hehe
BTW, still trying cooking lol 75 atm :P I started cooking but Windhurst is so big and far away!
*** crafting, dont waste ur gil
Well I dont spend much on my cooking really, cooking is so cheap.
I found a way to Windy bit easier for me by having the past nation to Windy, run out to the Maw and zone into windy right next to guild entrance. Takes less than 5 min than taking tele then taking choco. I usually get OP and flee to warp taru. for cloth guild still a pain to get to for GP items.
Cooking is also good because product moves out of the AH so fast... your pretty much make as much money as you want, you just gotta keep putting stuff back up for sale.
Fastest selling craft in the game. I honestly never really need to go to Windy for cooking...I know the guild's there and all but outside of leaving my HP out there every once in a while for ease of getting in guild points for Raw Fish Handling, I never used it. Don't really need to with cooking, it's really easy, I always recommend it to people as a starter craft; if they can't hack it with cooking which is dirty cheap, then crafting prolly ain't for them lol
I know fishing is technically even easier, but I don't wanna scare people away right off the bat ^^ I keel Ladybugs and trade em for gils!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thats my craft for now :( Xxnumbertwoxx said: I honestly never really need to go to Windy for cooking...I know the guild's there and all but outside of leaving my HP out there every once in a while for ease of getting in guild points for Raw Fish Handling, I never used it. I leveled NPC fellow on them from 40-46ish, THF friend was leveling his as well, we would train like 20 freaking ladybugs from all over the zone together and just pick em off one at a time. Leveled NPC fellows HELLA fast and got ***tons of wings too. Wish we could still level them there lol Zanno said: But now you can warp between cities for 300 gil! :D Yeah, I'm gonna be taking advantage of that ***for sure. Gonna try Persikos au Lait for skillups, and I'm like 7 levels away, so may be rough without synth support. i was looking into starting cooking as a Craft also. Does anyone know a good site to help with skill up recipes?
i hear ppl say Wiki's guide isn't all the good but they never provide a site to help out. It should already pick the level 0-10 crafts to start with. Basically choose something around level 4-5.... do some research on what is cheapest to do with the materials available on the AH. craft your heart out... then when you hit 4-5... pick something 7-9 and repeat. I spent 3 hours farming royal jelly for cursed soup yesterday. 3 hr farming = 12 royal jelly and 5 king truffle lol. Sovereign said: Bungie said: *** crafting, dont waste ur gil quoted for truth Crafting as a get-rich-quick is not the answer. Many people feel it is and fail later on. Alchemy and Cooking are the two crafts that will always be in demand and thrive. Don't expect to get rich or buy the world. But me personally having cooking at 100 i am NEVER EVER EVER EVER broke in this game. I always have money for food or medicine. I always have money for leveling a new job to maats cap. Results may vary. But don't expect this to be your solution to getting rich. Quite a few cooking items were added since then and most are better profit/break even situations compared to the old days. While most are still valid you might end up wasting more money or time. Do your research heavily in your crafting choices for the levels you are soon to do. Clinpachi said: Zanno said: Ericka said: i was looking into starting cooking as a Craft also. Yea thats true i guess. but i think most changes in cooking has been made in mid lv? low lv and high lv cooking pretty much stayed the same i believe. Mid level for sure.... high level has a FEW things but i think starting out on juices or what have you is still valid.
Using FFXI recipes section is best thing you can do at the moment for getting good insight on what you are getting into.... BOTH financially and profit/loss wise. When it comes to cooking, i think its really sad that most ppl stick to a certain food just because thats what they've always been using. lots of recipies are pretty much useless because of that, even if you make decent low lv food ppl just wont buy it because they rather stick to sushi/mithkabobs in all situations (even in low lv parties where other food can be just as beneficial). This pretty much limits the recipies you wanna use unless you wanna NPC your stuff :(

The thing with cooking is, you'll be selling a lot of the end results on the AH in Jeuno, so it's hard for any one person to tell you what is a good seller on your server versus the others. To ensure it's as painless as possible, a few pointers: Have a mule in Bastok, Sandy, and Windurst. You can get away with using your main as your "mule" in your home city, but I like having a mule there, too...I can mule myself mats in the field almost everywhere if I need to, like in the Jungles or Altepa. The appeal of cooking isn't just in selling food on the AH, it's in not having to buy any off the AH yourself ^^ Make sure they all have max fame, or as close to it as you can. This is a bit of a pain in the ***, but it's well worth it for the money you save on mats from the regional vendors, where 95% of your materials are gonna come from, and can make the difference between breaking even or actually making money as you skill up. Use one of your mules for cooking mats, save EVERYTHING food related that drops as you exp. You never know when you might need to cook something random for a quest, or when skilling up, also saves you some money. Save all the Water, Dark, and Fire crystals you can get your hands on, as well. You'll use these three the most, and very occasionally Earth. Trust me, it's nice being able to craft regardless of what's on sale atm...especially with Dark and Fire Crystals, which seem to fluctuate a lot If you know a fisherman, try to work out a deal with him to get any fish you need steadily. This isn't critical, but can be nice at times. If not, it's not the end of the world, but avoid fish synths as much as possible, it can be a pain in the *** to get the fish for them. Always consider how long it's gonna take you to unload something before you sit down and craft a bunch. I can tell you from personal experience, I sat on TONS of San d'Orian Tea for months trying to unload them all. In hindsight, I prolly would have just taken the loss on another synth at that level range, cause it really jammed me up pretty bad. Anyways, do your research, get as much from regional vendors as possible, there are a few things you WILL have to farm or buy off the AH (Wild Onions, Coral Fungus, Honey), so prepare for that. Try to pick easy synths to skill on, obviously...grape juice for instance, 4 Sandy Grapes and a Dark crystal, pretty freaking easy lol The reaosn why the guides on the wiki can be misleading is that a few of them are years old, and are going off of thing being much different with the in game economy and such. Things that were great profit synths 3 years ago just aren't anymore because of deflation. Because food items are such a fast moving market, it's often best to forego a guide and just make your own as you go along. Worked well for me so far, I pretty much chose my own path from day one. all I have to say is.....
touch my ladybugs and Ill cut you!!!!! o.o kk also cooking is kewl >.> San d'Orian Tea FTL lol, I sat in south sandy while synthing these and gave away them for free in /shout, did the same with colored eggs i think
Clothcraft is what I'm working on atm, however I've encountered a rough stretch at 89.5. I don't like the recipes at hand because of either scarcity of ingredients (giant bird plumes) or expense (rainbow cloth). /sigh
So I'm leveling subcrafts... whee! Honestly I'm having more fun and making more money than I thought I would... Now I'm like 100 Cloth? I'll get there eventually... BUT 60 in my subs? Yes we can! Zanno said: San d'Orian Tea FTL lol, I sat in south sandy while synthing these and gave away them for free in /shout, did the same with colored eggs i think LOL ya really, that ***sucked. My Jeuno mule was so full >.< I skipped colored eggs, I didn't wanna deal with having to take my main out to whoever was in first (usually NOT Sandy back then lol) to buy the freaking eggs. Can't remember what I did in that range, Pamama au Laits I think? Malekith said: Clothcraft is what I'm working on atm, however I've encountered a rough stretch at 89.5. This level isn't bad cos the Clothes you make to skill up can either be used for more skill up 90+ or you can sell them for profit. Thats what I did. I admit the Giant bird plumes suck.. 1 stack like 70k not 0.1 skill up sometimes. As for subs... Gold and Smithing are costly too.. tis why I havent capped them just yet. I have about 12 stacks of colored eggs in my moghouse :/ I needa get rid of them
Alyria said: I have about 12 stacks of colored eggs in my moghouse :/ I needa get rid of them Ya, I have a bunch too; I made them thinking I was gonna sell them easily and quickly during the Easter event. Everybody sure showed me lol |
