Happy i'm not a cat.
When a race acts like their better than everyone else at everything, it gets pretty annoying. frankly, that's not something i want to be a part of.
Not saying mithra doesn't kick the crap out of nearly every other race in many jobs/situations.
Point: mithra are awesome, the attitude isn't. Although it's nothing a little catnip can't fix...
I think the races are pretty well-balanced (which is surprising considering job balance). Mithra are pretty much Humes but with a bit more weight on the melee side of the seesaw.
Personally, I get too immersed in games to want to play a female character and I don't like cats. I've never had a problem with Mithra players in general though, some of the smarter players tend to play Mithra. The bad side of it is the guys who exploit the lonely demographic they're in while 'experimenting.' It's not the majority by any means, but it's easily the worst group of players in the game.
In my experience, it seems that people who play Mithra are usually people who don't play games through their own eyes ("Gonna take Evilkitty to this Cruor PT so she can brew some things." as opposed to "I'm gonna go out to this Cruor PT I need to brew some stuff.") and like the stats or find the characters appealing.
There are also people who just like cats a lot and couldn't pass it up despite not being able to choose a male. Honestly, I think this might be the biggest reason for people playing Mithra. People on the Internet like cats.
Either way, it's all subjective and it's pretty silly to say that one race is best/worst. Some like flipping cats, some hate flipping cats. Some like tall, refined elvaan, some hate dhalmels, etc.
tl;dr
Different strokes.

I think most ppl shouldn't bother putting specific personality/behavior to FFXI race <.< It's a bit stupid considering it's an human being who plays the character and it has been proven that we are all different.
Sometimes it annoys me a bit.

Night, can you do me a favor? Can you look at smite v spiral from a pup standpoint? I just assumed with the dex mod, that this WS was made moreso for pup. Higher dex base + better dex gear.

With the two PUP sets I have, they are pretty even in uncapped attack situation. Closer you are to attack cap the more SS will pull ahead, even more so for PUP than MNK with the lack of Impetus.

when it says you need 357 skill, does that include if you have merits?
cause i have 366gsword skill atm, but without merits only 350.

cause i have 366gsword skill atm, but without merits only 350. Well, I've never done it myself but I've read many times that you can use weaponskills that you don't have yet by adding skill gear / merits.
I know people use to do that to get penta thrust in certain BCNM battles. So, with that in mind I think that it's possible to do. I don't think it wouldn't let you put the merits in until your skill level is that high, SE is too lazy to make a requirement like that anyways.
Just use merits and I'm sure you can, and if you aren't sure get on the test server and put your skill level just under, then add merits til your over and see if you have access to it now.

I will say the animations for the Mithra are way cool and make me a bit jelly. Thankfully, much of the animations look good for any character model either way, so I'm not too jelly :>

You can view all of them by going to the youtube page and clicking on the uploaders name, then view uploaded files.
They are all there and more organized that we can do on here, since there is a limit of 4 videos per post it is kinda lame to organize it.
I'll put the links to the videos in the OP though, not right now but later I will :p

Merits and gear won't give you access to wsnm weapons early, it can give you the ws if you have it unlocked, but you can't start the quest. I would assume the same for the merit abilities that you actually have to have the battle skill where it should be to unlock it, and not just have access to it because of merits/gear. Now say you unlock the dagger ws on 95-99 thf, and your bard or rdm is 90. If you can use merits and gear to push your rdm or bard to the proper skill level you should be able to access the ws you have unlocked, but not use merits to unlock it if you haven't unlocked it yet. I have not tested these yet so I can't verify but that should help you understand his question.

The rule with skill and unlocking WSes follows:
If you have 198 skill natural and merits giving you 214, you will not have the 200 skill WS.
If your skill is capped from another job, say at 300, and your current job's cap is only 198 but you have merits pushing you to 214, you will have the 200 skill WS unlocked.
In other words, your natural skill has to be high enough to unlock a WS, and then if your skill is lowered from changing jobs or level sync then merits can unlock the WS early for you.
I believe, however, that these new weaponskills will be unlockable just by doing the quest and being level 96. They will then be unlocked as if you had the natural skill for them, and then having merits can get you the WS a little before 357 skill. Just a theory though.

Great Katana: Tachi: Shoha Two-Hit WS. Damage varies with TP.

Staff: Shattersoul Four-Hit WS. Lowers enemy magic defense. Chance of effect varies with TP.
Bow: Apex Arrow Triple Damage that ignores defense. Amount ignored varies with TP.
Marksmanship: Last Stand 1-2 Hits, based on ammo remaining. Damage varies with TP.
EDIT: In a Perusal of the JP wiki I've found out the descriptions for the new Sword and Katana WS TP mods have only ever been used before for Iron Tempest and Sturmwind in the JP version. It's exactly what it says on the tin: your attack is modded instead of your F.T.P. In the English version of the game, this distinction is not made and it simply says "Damage varies with TP" for those two weapon skills. It seems that they're taking into consideration that PLD and NIN may have hard times against enemies with high defense and thus made TP mod attack this time instead of F.T.P.
Asked Camate about the video and other ws's and when they will be introduced exactly (for an official response since it hasn't been translated yet by the dev team) and this is what he said:
