Don't know where this stuff about Requiescat being part magic/spirit damage is coming from. So far it's been performing within expected parameters on everything I've used it on, magic and physical resistant mobs both. Will put up some real numbers after LS event tonight.

Shijin: 100% DEX mod * alpha = 0.85 base damage per DEX point + 0.25 STR mod that caps (fSTR), 1.0625 fTP, 5 hits, 5.0625 fTP Smite: 60% STR mod * alpha = 0.51 base damage per STR point + 0.25 D/STR from fSTR capping, 2.25 fTP, 4 hits, 5.25 fTP Smite has a better fTP and a more favorable mod in that it simultaneously contributes to WSC, fSTR, and attack. Shijin on the other hand focuses almost exclusively on DEX due to the strength of the mod. Compare: Using a 95 Hume MNK/WAR with 90 Vere (89 STR, 88 DEX) and STR merits vs a monster with... hell, let's say 85 VIT (somewhat low, but allows both sets to cap fSTR) but assume dDEX is neutral for Smite. Capped cRatio for both (again favoring Shijin), no level correction. (48+35+12+(153*0.85))*5.0625*2.01=2290.02441 (48+35+12+(178*0.6)*0.85)*5.25*2.295*1.03=2308.29953 I realize I ignored DA/TA but too lazy to do that right now since Shijin is 5 hits already... the posted set is 4 DEX short of perfect but I think you get the point. Absolute best case it barely pulls even with Smite, as cRatio and fSTR decrease (or gear quality, given MNK's DEX options) it will rapidly fall behind. Closer than I implied perhaps but still nothing of interest for someone with Smite. With Impetus up, like I said, no contest. I think most would agree that front flipping after firing an arrow isnt the most effective method of archery, regardless of the body structure. it would have been awesome if they shot the arrow WHILE doing a backflip, lightning-esque style. or they can do front flips and we can clap, cheer, give them treats and money. Somebody's mad they're not a cat.

He has cat on the mind, they all about da DEX~ >:3

And of course, since it's merit-based, that means you can never have all of them without gimping yourself. Wonderful. Enough complaining, though. I hope they release a video of all of them like they did the Empyrean weapon skills. I like my eye candy, and post-2005 weapon skills generally do not fail to disappoint in that regard. Looking forward to finding out if any of them will knock old skills out of the race for best weapon skill, as well. EDIT: Bolded for clarity. do you ask for raise 3 when you die? QQ @ exp grinds when people can FE and aby = lolz Valefor.Prothescar said: » Shiva.Keyera said: » i think most would agree that the jelly in a PB&J is the sweet part, and the peanutbutter is the salty =D I think most would agree that front/backflipping mithras are hot as ***. When a race acts like their better than everyone else at everything, it gets pretty annoying. frankly, that's not something i want to be a part of. Not saying mithra doesn't kick the crap out of nearly every other race in many jobs/situations. Point: mithra are awesome, the attitude isn't. Although it's nothing a little catnip can't fix... They don't act like they're better than everyone, they totally are.

Here's the set I used for Blade: shun. Was pretty torn between haidate and tumbler trunks unsure on a neckpiece too so I just used rancor regardless of it not critting. Probably gonna be much better options coming though with the new Nyzul gear and Relic +2 however. Edit: Pretty sure Kannagi / Kamome are pretty moot for it too, but I'm not saying anything for certain until it's been tested properly. Edit#2: Hume or gtfo. Shiva.Keyera said: » Happy i'm not a cat. I think the races are pretty well-balanced (which is surprising considering job balance). Mithra are pretty much Humes but with a bit more weight on the melee side of the seesaw. Personally, I get too immersed in games to want to play a female character and I don't like cats. I've never had a problem with Mithra players in general though, some of the smarter players tend to play Mithra. The bad side of it is the guys who exploit the lonely demographic they're in while 'experimenting.' It's not the majority by any means, but it's easily the worst group of players in the game. In my experience, it seems that people who play Mithra are usually people who don't play games through their own eyes ("Gonna take Evilkitty to this Cruor PT so she can brew some things." as opposed to "I'm gonna go out to this Cruor PT I need to brew some stuff.") and like the stats or find the characters appealing. There are also people who just like cats a lot and couldn't pass it up despite not being able to choose a male. Honestly, I think this might be the biggest reason for people playing Mithra. People on the Internet like cats. Either way, it's all subjective and it's pretty silly to say that one race is best/worst. Some like flipping cats, some hate flipping cats. Some like tall, refined elvaan, some hate dhalmels, etc. tl;dr Different strokes. |
