Was reading over the MW3 forums and I think this is why you get the "Shoot someone with full clip and hitboxes yet they don't die and 2shot you"

Quote:
The lag compensation is why lag switching is harder to do. 1) if you disconnect your connection you get kicked (a patch by trey-arch that can detect it since the game is behind now instead. Which is Good). When users now flood there internet to make there connection slower by uploading or downloading this gives them an advantage. This is true because of the lag compensation. When you're internet is running slow your actually behind someone else on your screen so your able to kill them in 1-3 hits, but on the other users screen he can unload a whole clip on you and still not kill you. Since your xbox is still behind of the other users your xbox never tells his xbox that you shot at him, instead it accepts the (you died code, and moves on). This is because of the lag, your xbox never got his information telling you that he was shooting at you.

This wouldn't have ever effected the game if the lag compensation was not implemented. That is why in MW2 the user who is lagging would be the one behind everyone else so instead of him getting the kill like in BO the user who got the response in faster would win the fight. This is the reason why people complain about lag. I agree there is absolutely no lag in this game what so ever! That's so true because of the lag compensation. This makes everyone run behind thus eliminating lag. The problem is with the coding and who should actually get the kill. MW2 had lag issues all the time. This only affected the users with slow internet (and knew who it was because of the skipping), Mine ran lag free 100% of the time on my old 24mb connection. Now I'm at 100mbs and its 10x worse that MW2

There is no denying that there is no lag in this game. There is also no denying that the coding is favoring slow internet.

JD_2020 has already admitted on these forums (do a search under his user-name) about this being the first COD to get lag compensation.

For anyone with false beliefs. Do this.

1) Tether your cell phones 3g or 4g internet to your xbox then play online. Watch how well you do. Then go back to your fast 25+mb connection and notice the difference for your self.

I only play using my cell phones internet anymore. I'm also tired of all the users online who call me cheater, lag switcher, and so on when im not even host. I don't let this get to me since or worried about being banned or reset since its my internet that is slow not me cheating. A cell phones internet varies so much that 1 second it could be good (4 bar), and the next its dead slow (1 bar). and everyone who see's you at 1 bar assumes your cheating. The funny thing, I've been host on my 4g sprint connection before! They obviously give host to the fastest ping, not internet speed. When I'm host though the game makes me feel like im GOD. I love being host on crappy internet, but is rare when its that slow. This is why users who are host who slow there internet down get the advantage (thus the reason people call cheater or lag switcher) I dont see it at cheating, I see it as fixing a problem treyarch made. If the lag compensation wasn't implemented this wouldn't even be possible.

A lot of people can't handle BF3's play style. There really isn't much room to be a lone wolf, and if you aren't relying on cover you're probably dying a lot. BF3 gives me more than running around and killing people. The FPS element is still there, but the game is more objective based, unless you're playing deathmatch. People didn't like the teamwork requirement in battlefield, and apparently the gameplay isn't fast enough, although; I've never had a problem finding someone to kill. The maps are quite large, but I also play with teams of 32 vs 32, so I'm sure it's not as empty as the console version.
Just skimming the thread but there's not really as large of a market for shooters that are not run & gun as there is for it. Teamwork oriented, hide behind cover shooters take a greater amount of skill, patience, and cohesion between people who may just be randomly matched up against a team of no-life 13 year olds who know the map/mechanics like the back of their hands.

I don't really have any interest in BF3 because I don't know anyone who has it and I don't want to play a game like that with random people who probably don't work well with others. Call of Duty caters to a much broader audience of players who want to be able to pick up a game and excel at it right away and feel they're making immediate and tangible progress in gameplay. It's much like how games in other genres adopt instant gratification models like Abyssea FFXI or WoW. It's just proven to be a more successful model.

Also my brother and his friends are godly at S&D in COD games and I love never losing a match when I play with them >_> My friends are good at TDM but TDM playlists in COD are often times so easy to dominate that it gets boring. My brother and his friends are obsessed with Gamebattles and MLG so when I go in matchmaking with them against randoms it's just a total slaughter xD

Totally changed my opinion after tonight's gameplay. The deaths seemed much more fair, I led all but two of the lobbies, I didn't feel cheated out of wins by cheap kills (just cheap corner camping killers hahah), more often than not the lobbies actually went into a game faster than 5 minutes. The only issue was CTF, it took it a bit to merge lobbies both times we backed up to the menu to work on classes.

Anyways, fun times. Very different from any previous installations. I'll be playing it when I can pull myself away from Skyrim.

@Wall-o-text about internet speed.

Too bad some of us can't get better than 5Mb/s no matter what type of connection we use.

I've lived in 3 different cities (in two states) with 3 different cable companies in the last 4 years. I'm lucky to ever break 6 MB/s. Don't assume most people have access to good internet, there's a lot of places that don't. The places I've lived in being recently being Barstow CA (Time Warner), Hesperia CA (Charter), and Colorado Springs CO (Comcast).

Not every1 can get super fast internet. I run on dsl and because verzion has my area *** blocked, and the cable company will not run the line its not cause we are far. Hell we live right off the interstate and they are basically lazy. I could get a better and faster dsl package but since verzion has this area blocked we are stuck with verzion which we get service across the state of va

I live about 180 miles away from their nearest Speedtest server, in a town of only 1000 people, and I have to drive 45 minutes to reach any major town or city.

Im not even suppose to have dsl from verizon due to me being over the max limit on distance. I have a 3mpbs package but I wanted like 6 or 10 mpbs but like I said due to verizon blocking this area I cannot get dsl from the other provider. If you know how I can bypass this let me know.

Better than I got on campus. I had to take a hiatus from FFXI during those days as it was just too laggy. When FFXI can't run, you know you have connection issues.

It would cost me 100/mo to get a dedicated 10d/1u line. My other options are up to 6d/.5u on ATT dsl (currently on) or Cox cable. That's it.....that is IT. suuucks

You didn't look hard enough if you didn't find an answer.

Activision got nearly 3x as many people as they expected to sign up for Elite. Thus, they under-anticipated the server strain they'd get and as such they went down. They're working on a fix but it's pretty difficult to increase server output three-fold. Just need to wait for the buzz to die down.

And no, if you bought the Hardened Edition, there's no time limit to when you can sign up for it.

Yeah, you'll be alright. It will take a while for the stuff to take effect but the time you put in the code is what matters.

If you all are interested:

Sorry for the resolution, but it should be good enough to find what you're looking for.

Obviously player HP is 100 in core, 30 in hardcore.

This is with just my laptop going. I find this odd though because I rarely lag, even when there's 4 pc's going and I'm on my ps3. I notice it's slower than Charter(the only other internet I can get), but Charter here is out at least once a week. Crap connection > sometimes having no connection. >.>
