"31 misses in a row"
sounds painful lol I really figured it would be resisted 100% after seeing it miss like 20 times in a row. Shocking to see it actually start landing more after the 25+ misses, of course it instantly wore off by that point, it's just not something I expected.

To the person doing the resist testing, based on my personal ballista experience, dying does not reset your accumulated resistance. I'm pretty sure you have to die and choose the Return to Camp option, which forces you to zone, and I'm pretty sure its the zoning that resets the resistances. I'm not even 100% sure if returning to camp resets resistances.
Acorn hasn't been on AIM the last couple of days, I assume he got really busy with stuff. It takes a lot of his time to encode the videos, then he uploads them to youtube privately so I can watch them and record the commentary, then he has to edit my recording into the video, and for the first round fights (sometimes others) when I'm doing more thorough analysis, he has to pause the video at certain frames and make sure the audio commentary stays properly synced with the rest of the video, then he has to upload it to youtube again.
All of the fights should make it onto his channel sooner or later, may just need more patience.

I always wished to become a full time Ballista player. I probably only got less than 100 60 cap matches in, then eventually I think Seraph's JP 60 cap crew decided to switch servers. One JP player I always looked up to was an elvaan named Loyd, who I felt had mastered every job I ever saw him on, by any chance is that the Moyd in deshi0's most recently uploaded video (Meri Mountains 60 cap)?
I don't think any of our matches had the level of team coordination as yours, and there was never any hako matches that I saw. Even if I reactivated my account and transferred servers, I don't think I could play at your level.

Ive been working on a list on how well/not so well I think SMN would do in brenner. Only had a chance to test a few matches so far, so anyone on Phoenix up for a 1v1 shoot me a /tell.
Wall of Text: Summoner Brenner Fight Ideas:
Each round starts with a 2 min buff period(Urteil's rule)
My buffs:
2 min buff period: stoneskin, blink, aquaveil, titan for migawari effect.
Vs list:
SMN vs WAR,MNK,SAM,RNG,NIN,THF or DRG
Avatar Ramuh and Titan
Match Start:
Avatar: Ramuh
Bloodpact Ward: Shock Squall, to stun the opponent long enough to get Ramuh on them without taking any dmg and to get Ramuh ready for Chaotic Strike without the opponent having a chance to get away, also wipes shadows. Chaotic Strike will then stun them again allowing me to gain distance giving me a very huge advantage. Third Eye will cause problems here. If opponent is Third Eye user:
Avatar: Titan
Bloodpact Rage: Geocrush(earth magic damage) this move has long range is not blocked by third eye and stuns opponent. Allows me to keep opponent out of melee range still giving me the distance advantage.
SMN vs BLM,DRK,BLU or SCH
Avatar: Ramuh and Diabolos and Fenrir
All four of these jobs have the ability to sleep and may sub Scholar for Sublimation to wake up from sleep. Making them very dangerous for a Summoner. BLM DRK and SCH can also cast Break which again is very dangerous and can end a Summoner fast. All four jobs rely on MP and most will drain during some part of a fight, this is where Diabolos and Fenrir come into play. They are very resistant to dark based sleep, drains and aspirs. all 3 very important spells for the opponent. Fenrir can also dispel stuff such as a blms manawall which can make or break a 1v1 between smn and blm. Diabolos can inflict Weight effect with Camisado allowing me to keep max distance incase i need to resummon due to break or gravity or anything unwanted on my avatar.
Match Start:
Avatar: Ramuh Diabolos
Same as earlier Schock squall to stop any form of Silence,Bind,Sleep,Break,Gravity from the opponent and allowing Ramuh to get close enough for a Chaotic Strike inflicting yet another stun. Chaotic strike will almost always knock the opponent under half hp, meaning if opponent is SCH or subbing SCH it stops sublimation effect. Now here is where you release Ramuh, but for a very good reason, you sleep the opponent, With ramuh out if the opponent is engaged to you he would auto attack them, if he is released that is no longer a problem. Here we can do many things, what I do is wait on the timer of Bloodpact Rage and Ward to recover. Once they are both close you can resummon something, in my case i would use Shiva allow Shiva to Heavenly Strike this should end the match if not Sleepga with Shiva or drain if HP is low enough or just keep shiva on them to kill.
This is the basic strat, some things can change and I wouldn't expect every match
to go the same way.
example if mages are wearing sleep resist gear and sleep misses releasing Ramuh could be a very dangerous thing and many times would cost you the match. Agenst BLM and DRK instead of using Shiva second I would most definetly use Fenrir due to lunar bay being fairly good on dmg and the ability to resist Sleep, Drain, Aspir and also Dispelling a BLM's Manawall if they get the chance of getting it up. BLU's have light based Sleep and can Bind with Regurgitation/Pinecone bomb so no avatar is going to be able to resist everything from a BLU's arsenal. So at all cost keep the BLU as far away from you as possible. If avatar gets slept or bound just resummon if your far enough away. Ramuh is your best bet agenst a BLU, Shock Squall will always allow you to get close enough for Chaotic Strike.
SMN vs DNC,WHM,RDM and PLD
All four of these jobs are excellent at damage migitation and stalling damage, DNC needs tp to have any chance of winning so all the SMN has to do is keep the DNC from getting any. Again I would be going with Shock Squall and Chaotic Strike start just to get a good base of damage on the DNC forcing it to use Its TP that it may have from No Foot Rise and Reverse Flourish. From here on all That needs to Be done is stopping the DNC from ever hitting anything, to do that release and Sleep. Now the main threat of DNC is done with no tp to cure but fan dance will leave all physical Bloodpacts almost useless. So I would use Shiva with 5/5 Heavenly Strike and instead of using Sleepga to keep the DNC TPless I would use Frost Armor for Ice spikes on shiva and keep her on the DNC so if they choose to run after me I can just kite, if opponent melees Shiva for TP they get paralyzed and that is a DNCs worst nightmare. Or you can go another route and just Dispel the Fan Dance and continue using Ramuh either way should get the job done.
As for PLD, RDM and WHM im not sure there is a way SMN can win agenst any of them. WHM can migitate both physical and magical dmg along with access to Barspells,-Na spells, Erase, and Stoneskin cures. So many ways to stall out the SMN until they either run out of MP or just realize there is no way they can win and forfeit. But If I had to try my best bet would be to go with fenrir. Spam the WHM with dispel and Dispel from fenrir and hope to do decent dmg from a Bloodpact Rage, even then a smart WHM can just Repose any avatar you try to use agenst them.
PLD and RDM pretty much the same reason they can migitate both damage types fairly well along with their sleep resistance and ability to block physical bloodpacts with shield, its a very one sided fight for the PLD and RDM. Best bet would to use whatever avatar your 5/5 magic move is(in my case Shiva 5/5 Heavenly Strike) and hope you can do decent damage. if PLD is subbing SCH they can Drain and Aspir your avatar so they will have an unlimited MP pool pretty much. And RDM can just use Barspell to weaken the magic damage even more.
SMN vs BST or PUP
The main reason you would want to be SMN/SCH you are gonna need sleep for the pets. Now a good PUP or Beast can wake up their pets with Reward/Repair but the recast on those moves are fairly long. As before I will be going with Ramuh as my avatar of
choice.
Match Start:
Avatar: Ramuh
once buffs are done and both sides are ready:
Alalcrity before you are close enough to the PUP or BST to engage you, now Shock Squall and Chaotic Strike as always now since both the PUP or BST and their pet are still stunned from Shock Squall you Sleep the Pet and get your distance. A smart PUP or BST will use Reward/Repair to wake the pet up once Chaotic Strikes Stun effect wears off, but that is no problem at all because of that Alacrity before the start now your Sleep Recast Timer should be up again to sleep the pet, once again leaving the match in SMN's advantage. With the BST or PUP and their pet seperated SMN has full Control
over the fight from this point on.
Another Option is using Shiva's Sleepga and Heavenly Strike, this method is a little more risky though because Shiva would attack the pet if is the only one engaged to the SMN thus waking it up and leaving the PUP or BST with their Reward/Repair ability.
Fights I have actually got to try these out on so far:
SMN vs DRK
I had the liberty of a DRK letting me get some brenner practice on SMN agenst them so I have tested this first hand with many matches with them. The end score was SMN 5 wins DRK 1 win. One match was really close I won with 60 HP either way all 6 fights were really good ones. Now im sure you probably saying that must have been a lolDRK, that is not the case at all, this was an EmpyDRK that played very very well, wish I would have
recorded it, anywho onto the Match:
Started out the Same way as most of my matches, Shock Squall to get ramuh close enough
to the DRK and stopping them from Sleep/Breaking me or Ramuh. Also prevents them from getting away from Chaotic Strike which stuns them again giving me plenty of time to get distance, now one thing I noticed after the first match was
A: if I kept out Ramuh a DRK can just Drain/Drain II him and keep their HP up, also Aspir them to have no issue with MP.
They can build their TP on the Ramuh then sleep him and get one Nasty WS off on me if they get close enough.
B: after the initial Chaotic Strike I can just switch to Diabolos to resist a sleep and use Camisado to Gravity the DRK and keep max distance from them. Diabolos not only resist sleep, the DRK no longer had that great Drain/Drain II or Aspir Pool as it did when I was using Ramuh due to Diabolos being highly resistant to dark spells. From this Point there was not much the DRK could do as long as I kept my distance I could always resummon Diabolos if
the DRK got a break off on him,and he could never Drain/Aspir Diabolos effectivly so there was no way for the DRK to win from this point unless I got close enough for them to WS me. (which I didn't :D)
SMN vs SAM
This was rather funny, was during a team battle SAM ran to me I had shiva out at the time, this was pretty much my first time pvp on SMN so was testing out stuff, anyways, Shiva used Heavenly Strike,
my set effect procced and almost one shot the SAM, he had a sliver of hp left which I then drained away.
Other things I thought about after Matches:
Titan's Earthen Armor would have been a great thing for me to use. Its pretty much a migawari effect for SMNs. any damage that would deal more than 75% of my HP does 45% less damage, call it a saving grace.
-Using Light Spirit to cast Pro/Shell IV although that may be overdoing it can never be overbuffed in 1v1 :)
Any Ideas or feedback is much appreciated, this is just a rough idea of how I would play agenst each
job and I tried to give a reason for my choices.

yes I agree a good dnc could just spam steps on avatar and reverse flourish to keep tp thats why I added Shiva with spikes after the inital Chaotic strike so either way it goes if they do melee the avatar they would get paralyzed, and if they run after me I could keep my distance, I have movement+ gear on smn so a dncs tandava crackows would not be doing much.

Ramuh's Shock Squall is instant cast aoe stun that lasts as long as if not longer than regular stun that would knock off chocobo jig from the dnc, then chaotic strike would stun them again its a 3 hit move, each hit that lands causes a longer stun, it can last upwards 15 seconds if all 3 hits land. plenty of time for me to get plenty of room.
Shock Squall is unique as its the only instant bloodpact move smn has.

Summoner will have to choose sub jobs based on their main enemy, augment their physical ability with staff melee, PDT gear and fight in tandem with their avatar.
The problem is that most avatar pacts can easily be zoned, by moving about 15' away, so you'll need to give incentive for the enemy to be near the avatar by you baiting them, as the real trick is to killing the SMN.
Instead of treating the two bodies seperatly you both need to be together to play off of sleep resistance via diabolos etc. and your own sleep resistance. Trying to make sure that if something like Diaga is cast etc, you both get hit by the spell. The summoner shouldn't stray very far from their avatar, if the enemy wants to play ranged know when to retreat or retaliate with drain/aspir and use your massive mp pool to keep up stoneskin and blinks. Using the avatar as your shield and sword means doing the obvious, but also the spacing required.
SMN is hard to play.
Its the same problem as PUP where you see the spacing between avatar and summoner too spread out. When the pet is bound/broken/slept etc. The summoner like the master should focus on making their character itself a force to bet reckoned with instead of relying soley on the summon and vice versa.
**I don't know much about the new pacts introduced, but perhaps they offer a strong amount of promise.
Summoner lacks native enfeebles, but the new blood pacts combined with the summoner actually fighting jobs without ice spikes, may prove to be useful.
However in many cases you can sub /rdm and keep max distance from an enemy trying to -ga you with sleep, while your avatar punishes them.

Resist gear is never a bad idea, its a GREAT idea.

Gear swaps penalize you, so use your brain and make an advantageous gear set, unless you're retarded.
If you have /ANY/ questions about PvP or ballista feel free to talk to me, I will be glad to assist you with basic questions about gear swapping, differences to the battle system, etc.
