solution to the ps2 limitation hard drive issue
....what? That idea is crazy
New jobs and more level caps? I'm in. Sign me up.
Oh man that's such a good idea, RDM200/SCH100 will finally be able to use hastega!
This is what I expected to see in here:
so a new world and a new game to work around ps2 limitations, new jobs and items, and have a caracter look a lot like your existing one?
sounds like FFXIV to me Bismarck.Vize said: » its not crazy at all its a workaround to defeat the 10gig limit per game sony has on the ps2 sequel would be 10gigs of new areas and jobs we could play with our existing charectors ...it would still be the same game just change game when u want to go back to older areas 1) it would be impossible (i would think) to transfer a character from 1 entire MMO to another... like seriously? lol 2) PS2 limitations aren't really the only thing holding back XI on new areas and such 3) SE already said level cap is gonna stay at 99 as the final cap, cuz job combos would break the game with a /50 sub... Pretty sure I don't need to continue lol Fix for PS2 users: Stop playing FFXI and save up your monthly fees to buy a PC or XBOX.
Please note some side effects may include: upon your return after using this method you can get free of Abyssea and VW stones, and the rest of us don't have to see SE complain "PS2 limitations" anymore. Not really; they could just block spells/abilities (Like Yonin, for example, if they can be bothered). PS2 solution would be to just discontinue support and tell every to buy a cheap P3 PC from ebay for sub $50. There was a thread about this already and the dev team said they were gonna stop at 99, cuz they took a pole of players... its on this forum somewhere, but they quoted Camate, the dev guy And I'm not so sure you can compare a dreamcast online "mmo" to something atleast as modern as 2002 when FFXI came out... games are much more complex and the graphics are more intense.. how long ago did dreamcast die out, exactly?

As others have already pointed out, there's FFXIV for that.
Easiest solution to the PS2 limitation is to Release it on the PS3 and discontinue supporting the PS2, its a 10+ year old system,I think its time to evolve in every way.

When was the last new game that came out for the dreamcast? (serious question...) I think the best solution would be to stop worrying about it....or to ask all our JP friends to kindly convert to a new system...because the JP favoritism is the real problem seeing as how most of the JP player base still plays on the PS2...which means we will NEVER get rid of the PS2 til they convert...and even then...they will NEVER totally drop PS2 support...
As weird as it is to consider Vize's suggested solution, it actually could be implemented in the existing FFXI structure. It just really is a very, how do you say..."ugly"...type of implementation LOL. :p
The way that Sonic Team did it for the two simultaneous Dreamcast PSO builds (version 1 and version 2) was that it mapped every single newly-introduced item in the v2 game to a v1 analog. So two players could play side-by-side in a v1 game area, and the v2 player could use v2 items. If the v2 player tried to give a v2 item to the v1 player, all the v1 player would see is the v1 analog...which would perform exactly as the item would in the base game. The v1 player couldn't join the v2 player in the v2 zones, because that was beyond the scope of that player's game. So for this hypothetical case of a FFXI and FFXI-2 games playing on the same server, if an FFXI-2 player created some new (trade-able) synergy item called "Atma Weapon of Wind" that player could put it in their bazaar and sell it/trade it. The FFXI player looking at that weapon in bazaar would see it as whatever FFXI item SE mapped it as...like an "Onion Sword" (for 3 million gil.) :p If the FFXI player bought it (for 3 million gil) and equipped it, it would perform as an Onion Sword would. He could then sell it in his bazaar, perhaps with his other FFXI Onion Sword he had on him, and both would appear to be Onion Swords to him in the inventory. The FFXI-2 player would see the first Onion Sword as that Atma Weapon of Wind, instead. The FFXI player couldn't follow the FFXI-2 player into any new zones (perhaps where the FFXI-2 player got the synergy synth items) and would just get the standard "you don't have that expansion" error message when trying to zone. Like I said, it's possible for SE to do something like that. It's really ugly implementation and I think the game would be on its last legs if they ever wanted to do that, though (instead of just trying to divert players onto FFXIV...) Quote: When was the last new game that came out for the dreamcast? (serious question...) Dreamcast - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DreamcastCached - Similar You +1'd this publicly. Undo Independent commercial games such as Feet of Fury, Last Hope and DUX have also been released. On June 10, 2010, at E3 Sega announced that Dreamcast ... List of Dreamcast games - History of the Dreamcast - Dreamcast accessories - VMU Because time and money to build what is effectively a new game (with the only port being the raw code) and commercially release it to appease the minority of the playerbase who insist on using a dead console is probably not a good business move for SE.
They said it would take too much time to recode FFXI for ps3 and it be a waste of money it be the same amount of time of making a new MMO reason there is now FFXIV.
Now that there making FFXIV patch 2.0 it seem 100x better. There isn't any need to go beyond 99, they will just continue to release gear that's a tier above what is considered BiS now, same as they did at 75. One thing I will point out is that gear itemisation is way, way better now than at 75 (courtesy of the new-ish FF director?), so they'll just improve on that. Bismarck.Vize said: » and furthermore why would anyone want to throw away everything we have all worked so hard to achieve these last 7 to 8years yes i have played since the beginning on my pc and 360 i just happen to have ps2 friends i play with, when all it would take is for SE to stop being lazy and fix what is already in place Bit of a derp moment if you think because you spent x time on a game that they should cater for you and run rings around you so you can continue on another edition of the same franchise. I assume this is the only MMO you've played. Bless. |
