I'm going to guess the above person meant to say Vrtra and Jormy solo'd by BST.

BST can solo basically anything without the following three things:

1. A high autoregen (this can turn fights into a stalemate)
2. A time limit (BCNMs and rage timers)
3. Adds. (This was my problem soloing Odin Prime.)
4. ____ (I'm sure someone will think of something else.)

You need proper gear, merits, skill, foods, restorative items, and time, but I'd think BST could, if not now with difficulty, later with LV99 pets.

I can't remember if there is a high level pet with a fire resist to it. If BST got something with the same fire resist on it like dipper has with wind resist, we'd be set.

A gobby bag completely full of Dawn Mulsums and a Reward build can make BST pets do amazing things. BST+BST is to the normal areas what MNK+WHM are to abyssea (in many, but not all, situations).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As far as what a good set-up that isn't a BST with an inventory of restorative items goes...
I wouldn't want to try with less than four (or else you're just chipping away it's HP and giving another group time to gather so when one person slips up, the new group can claim).
Myself (dualbox) WHM/RDM and a BLM, NIN, and SAM were doing good against it. Someone else wasnt't coming out as they were being poor sports about 'this shout was for HKCNM fight blah blah stick-in-the-mud). NIN got in the way mostly. HP sink. We hadn't even planned on fighting it. It just happened to be up when we were going to do one of the new fights with the new orbs near there. SAM did most of the tanking as NIN liked to take dirt naps. I was running my alt WHM out there while we were fighting it as I didn't have a nexus cape charge ready on it. MP was an issue as my MP gear was sold right about the time 20 MP/tic abyssea refreshes came along. I know. My bad.
If I hadn't been dualboxing we wouldn't have lost claim. (NIN was down and SAM right after due to my fumbling nervousness letting one of my WHMs rest MP while the other one solo cured). I'd say with two DD (emp weapon prefered. Not just a bandwagon MNK) and a WHM and a RDM you could do it. Pray no one is around to notice you fighting it and calling out their buddies to wait for a mistake. Good luck.
kannagi with fire resist + whm with a good bar swap is probably the "lowest" you can go. Adds cause issues blah blah.
Claiming it is harder than killing it lately, about 5 shells camp full 3 days on fenrir atm.
Slug all the way. He'd do brilliantly on it.
He's always taken reduced damage from fire for me. Thunder is the only one he doesn't seem to resist.
You won't be able to claim Tiamat on Fenrir, so moot point.
No, he's water-based.
