I'm trying to get a few stacks of different pets for different situations, and AFAIK- yuly for eva tanking, sheep for def-tanking, what are the others? Straight-dmg pets, alt. tanks, etc

I would say Gorefang is great for DMG and somewhat similar to tanking like nazuna.

the new slug...i wanna say Gooey Gerald...love his attacks have additional effect: slow. (which procs quite often on NMs in dynamis) his tp moves aren't bad...but he's deffinately a pet that can take a hit, and dish it out.

yuli is the best pet for soloing/money making and dynamis, missions, quests with hard nms (best pet overall) , but i prefer to use the bunny for dmg purpose/speed instead gorefang, it hits very fast with lots of double atk procs , thats if you are fighting mobs that almost/always hits like ironclads or chariots, if not you need to use yuli. but Gooey Gerald and gorefang/bunny are the best dmg pets atm

Outside of abyssea Gooey is amazing for blood tanking, high def, high MDT and lots of magic resistances (water, wind, dark as 3) and HP down/Bio and Att/Def down TP moves. And enslow, which is nice.
Gorefang is a good DD but has dire def, rabbit is also a very good DD pet (and has AOE healing).
Evasion tanking is obviously Yuly.
NN capped at 86, so next update it's gonna be very weak compared to the rest, and I personally don't even think it's that good now tbh D:

If it was found to be false idk, but it was from that same thread back at 90 cap. Was friend who told me. Annnd Beast Affinty would still raise it's level so.
Edit: Few others are capped as of 95 also (Crafty is one).
Double Edit: Found the post, http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?fjob=8&mid=1298635397162868956&h=50&p=1#11

This test is just as relevant now as it was back then, if you're interested in the Max HP/level cap info for NN:

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?fjob=8&mid=1298635397162868956&h=50&p=1#10

NurseryNazuna has been capped at 86, and it's easy to test if you'd like first-hand proof. Just drop all BA merits, lower its HP to less than half and use a Healing Salve. The sheep will recover 2557 HP, which means 5114 Max HP, aka level 86. The Max HP tables are in the Alla thread if you wanna check'em out.

Edit: Here's the list of current level caps on the "new generation" pets:

NurseryNazuna 86
CraftyClyvonne 90
PrestoJulio 93
SwiftSeighard 94

Everything else is uncapped.
