Occupy Wall Street Protests
I wouldn't look at that Fox News poll as public opinion as much as them researching how effective their propaganda efforts are when aimed at movements that do not further their own agenda. Apparently it still needs work.
lulz
Those "online" polls don't generally limit how many times people can vote. Its not impossible for say a bunch of OWS activists to vote repeatedly on it. There are polls out there however that show support of OWS to the Tea Party. some lean one way and some lean the other. Surprising that any poll still shows more support for tea partiers vs OWS since the media doesn't report the ones defecating on cop cars or the ones calling for violence or the vicious anti semitism. What everyone can be certain of is that as more and more people get arrested within the OWS crowd their support will decline. Maybe people are hiring illegals because the OWS crowd doesn't want to work for less than 20/hr? Caitsith.Sai said: » Cerberus.Wojo said: » GOP pic Extremely accurate and humorous. Whenever young people begin to do anything, Republicans instantly go into hyper grumpy old man mode. Get off my lawn and get a job you bunch of damn hippies! That, or they got the same impression as a lot of people about the protesters (accurate or not.) Which was the fringe, probably, but also greatly featured. You know, people's who's complaint is nothing more than, "I have a degree, why don't I have a job?" But hey, I get it. This is the internet. Funny pictures are still pretty powerful here, and it's always cool to make fun of Republicans. Media propagandist machine avatar checking in /

I don't believe that you've ever actually voted in a poll on an online site. Limiting votes by IP address isn't a new concept and hasn't been for a long time. Do you really believe OWS supporters have nothing better to do than repeatedly voting in a Fox poll via proxies because they think that will somehow help them? Nobody worth trying to influence to begin with is going to care about the results of a poll on Fox News' site. It's not difficult to check how many times you can vote so I went ahead and did it. Hmm, that's funny, I can repeatedly vote on it again and again.
And YES I do believe some OWS people would spend a substantial amount of time throughout the day doing nothing but that. Quote: What everyone can be certain of is that as more and more people get arrested within the OWS crowd their support will decline. Interesting assumption. This is what I am looking forward to tomorrow. consumerist.com/2011/10/bloomberg-tells-occupy-wall-street-protesters-to-leave-park-by-friday.html Will they disperse w/o incident or will there be trouble? If there is trouble will it turn the public on them or rally support for them? Will this fizzle out (most likely) or will this explode into a full on social movement (less likely but far more exciting). I don't understand the problem, these people want to buy the iPhone 4GS but cannot afford to break contract?

People that fall straight down PT lines w/o individual thought are the mindless idiot drones that allowed this country to devolve into what it is right now. If I were there I would not be very inclined to believe them. The company also said there could be damage to underground lighting systems that could be dangerous (lulz) It's not hard to see said company saying, opps its gonna take 5 weeks of repair, your welcome to come back in 6 weeks time to resume your protest. They also said the protesters would have to follow the rule of no camping. I guess they are free to stay in one of NYC bargain hotels each night. I doubt they will take the words of the mayor seriously. He's kinda part of the thing they are protesting against. Just like the civil rights marches in the sixties -
First they dismiss you and hope you go away Second they beat you and hope you go away Third they jail you and hope you don't come back Truth forever on the scaffold, Wrong forever on the throne, - Yet that scaffold sways the future ambria said: » Just like the civil rights marches in the sixties - First they dismiss you and hope you go away Second they beat you and hope you go away Third they jail you and hope you don't come back Truth forever on the scaffold, Wrong forever on the throne, - Yet that scaffold sways the future Please tell me what these protesters want? ambria said: » Just like the civil rights marches in the sixties - First they dismiss you and hope you go away Second they beat you and hope you go away Third they jail you and hope you don't come back Truth forever on the scaffold, Wrong forever on the throne, - Yet that scaffold sways the future James Russell Lowell quote? Really? Money interests out of politics
Re-regulate banks (derivative market) Financial transaction tax End to corporate tax loop-holes End to capital gains tax break End to corporate personhood These are the reasons I protest Cerberus.Wojo said: » ambria said: » Just like the civil rights marches in the sixties - First they dismiss you and hope you go away Second they beat you and hope you go away Third they jail you and hope you don't come back Truth forever on the scaffold, Wrong forever on the throne, - Yet that scaffold sways the future Please tell me what these protesters want? I don't think it's so hard to figure out. I would say the main point of anger is that you have people who are tired to gov being ran by corps with their dollars instead of the people. Just saying there needs to be a clear message communicated or all this is wasted effort.

Don Draper versus the beatniks! On a totally unrelated note, when I think beatniks from the mid 50s to the early 60s, I always think of this... Do you think if you hate a group of people they are just going to magically disappear? You think people who have left leaning and more liberal beliefs are just going to hand the country to you and cast off if you berate them enough? News flash for the hard left and right. You are stuck with each other. You better learn to get along and work together or shits just going to keep on stinking. I don't care if blank said blank about health care, or the environment or socialism or w/e everyone *** about all the time. Not all libs are pot head hippies that live in their parents basement, and not all cons/tp are hill billy rednecks. Quit listening to inflammatory media and squabbling like political 5 yr olds. This country is going into the tank and we all have a common problem that needs solving. Repubs and Dems in washington are corrupt. They are all bought and paid for. It's not so hard to see if people would pay attention with their own eyes. History is for chumps apparently.

Today on talk radio, the hosts were just giggling at the prospect of these protests ending due to the rain and Bloomberg's declaration that the protesters need to leave the park so it "can be cleaned" tomorrow. Many hope that the "trash" will be swept out. Apparently cleaning the park trumps the ability to peacefully assemble but I digress, this is the same guy that changed term limits to suit his 3rd term as mayor then flipped around and decided that no one else should get a 3rd term once hes done. Sounds American to me. About 4 people continuously calling in to say "why dont they just get jobs?" added to my amusement. Hey guys, how do we solve unemployment across the country? Just get jobs. Ragnarok.Nausi said: » Maybe people are hiring illegals because the OWS crowd doesn't want to work for less than 20/hr? The average yearly income for Americans is 40,711. 48% of American households have a combined net yearly income that lower than a $20/hr wage. 6% of workers make minimum wage or less (service related jobs that accept tips). There are currently 14.1m job seekers in the US and 3.2m job openings. At a 4.4:1 ratio of unemployed workers to actual jobs, I'm sure people are just holding out for that one that pays better than half of all households on average in the country bring in. More households than that really, since for every person making $100.00 an hour ($208,000 a year, not even the 250k a year magic number for "rich" people!), it take 7 minimum wages workers to even create that 40k average. Damn bro, we're going to need more Mexicans. Or for people to stop pulling stuff out of their *** to try to make a point. Either way. |
