profitable crafting ?

what craft is still profitable
i've done fishing to 96+ on both me and my mule
and i got cooking 72 on my mule taking it to 100
but what is a good profitable craft to take to 100 for my main and which for 60 ?
my thoughts was:
woodworking
for arrows and nin tools (abyssea kinda made these increase in potential sales
but i dont know how crowed the market is
alchemy
for potions, echo drops, bullets
bonecrafting
to do trumpet rings from fishing trumpet shells
but if SES nerfs that im kidna screwed with this skill

Any consumable will prove profitable and not made obsolete. Ergo, Cooking and alchemy. Cooking is only truly profitable if u don't mind fishing. My cooking is 100, fishing at 65. I've never been broke...

High level cooking (80+) is profitable when you make curry and turn it into buns, more so then sushi at the moment because you can easily farm the 2 expensive ingredients in a few hours to make a decent batch, and the rest is just NPC bought.
Good sushi such as sole etc, is only profitable if you fish for yourself, I worked out the other day that at the current 25k a stack for sole sushi on Odin, if you bought all the ingredients off the AH and NPC then you'd be losing 1k per stack, the only way to reduce this loss was by fishing and also growing some of the other ingredients such as the rice.
Anything people use regularly will make you money depending on how you go about getting what you need for it, so as people have said I think cooking and alchemy would be the most profitable, and also woodworking for NIN tools, plus fishing probably.

I've never been broke... I agree with this. Though even without fishing, cooking can be very profitable if you're patient and keep an eye on the markets for certain things.
Alchemy is pretty straightforward until 50+. At that point it's not that it stopped being profitable, there just weren't enough mats to skill up very quickly. :(

Cooking is one of the most profitable crafts there are.. You aren't going to pull in the numbers that some people make off gear, but HQ gear is priced the way it is to make up for costs it took to get that HQ.. Short of just a lucky craft, you don't actually make a lot of profit off HQing gear.. You can't count the material to profit cost off just that one synth, you have to figure in all the (usually negative profit) costs it took to get that HQ.
Consumables is the most reliable way to make money. Planned right and with a bit of farming, cooking is also one of the cheaper crafts to level. If you already got high level fishing, then you're pretty much set for money. Buy your ingredients from NPCs, farm crystals/clusters and it's easy to make money off of. But I suggest making numerous foods and having a couple of mules selling it. Like I said, it doesn't bring in the big bucks, but it sells quick.
Also, max out your Tenshodo fame. That damn wasabi really eats into the profit margins.

If you want a secret super duper profitable only-you-can-make synth,
Level clothcraft to veteran (at least 88) and get every +skill gp item from CC, then lvl leather to 100, getting the leather +skill items. Mix and match them somehow so you have leather 103 and cc 67. I'm too tired to remember the exact setup you need, but then you have reached t1 hq for cursed pumps -1, which every summoner wants. You could easily sell them for millions, all the while only you on the whole server (an probably across multiple servers :<) being able to t1 them!
Tho I think they did add +2 crafting torque this update? I think even if they did, you need to level clothcraft to get most of the gp items~

People on my server buying Whetted Molars and assorted synth mats ~4.2mish, crafting the Ocl. headpiece with synergy/cloth/bone and selling NQ for 4m and HQ 10m+ lol, 6m profit and almost 0 loss on NQ, its very much profitable I'd imagine.
In fact, looking at all the new synth recipes they are all extremely profitable. None of them are much of a loss on NQ via AH and some even profit on NQ.

Not really, you still need the other crafts to synergize properly and there are a lot of misc crafts where the mats are dirty cheap and the tier1's can HQ for good chunk of profit.

My experience in cooking is that sushi has really crappy profits (and if you fish for the mats, you're better off selling the fish). I've made more with curry buns and BST consumables.

Not true. At least in most cases. If the fish are so valuable that you can't make a profit without fishing them, you'd just be selling the fish.

You have fishing at a high level, your profits are covered... if you're going to level another craft, do it for Synergy.

I looked into red curry buns, with nq is only like 5k a stack profit so id need hq to make anything. I never tried the skill up food.

I'd recommend the lower level one, just because scream fungus is a *** to get. On my server at least.

cooking 60 and synergy make wool grease can easily knock out like 2m profit per day half assing it

consistant profits with minor crafting. (cloth or gold under 50)
silver ingots
buy silver ores for 330g from npc. make as many silver ingots as you want. ah - 35k.. (someone will always buy because crafters are lazy its a fact)
profits for 7 stacks. 134k in a day everyday.
up the chain of production. (crafter B is making)
silver thread -
Earth crystal + silver ingot + silk thread.
(20k a stack but its a multi output hq synth so your profits get better the better clothcrafter and the better supplied the ah is with silver ingots..) if price collapses on ingots and threads you can still make things to npc vendor and do other products.
cloth and leather makes so many different things its really hard to do without it as a side craft. i'd recommend taking side crafts up to 60 and fishing to a 100 and think about what you like to farm before going to a 100 in anything.
stack sales of consumables sell better then big ticket items but do you really want to sell 7 yagodo drinks for 14k or do you want to wake up to 7 stacks of darksteel ingots sold for 700k. you can make profits in food n arrows.. but its a very different lifestyle for your character.
