Would be funny if at the end of this survey SE is like: " hmm 70% PS2 users and 30% PC users " " ok lets drop PC support! "
i would /wrists everywhere....cause my PS2 has a passcode on it that i dont remember setting...and my ex-friend SWEARS he didnt set it...so my PS2 is just sitting there bieng all useless :/

The password only blocks DVD video discs from loading above a certain rating, and there's a master override if you forget the password. There's nothing on the PS2 to require a password to load a game disc.

When asked for the password, press Select to go to Master Override and then input 7444 (I think), and it will ask you to pick a new passcode. There's FAQs all over the internet explaining this, as well as the PS2 manual you can download as a PDF from PlayStation.com.

hey guys what's a partition

if you've got some desire to understand why it's not as simple as space remaining on your hard drive, go back and read some of the previous threads on the subject

The maximum size for a partition on the APA (Aligned Partition Allocation format) used by the PlayStation 2 is actually the maximum harddrive size, rounded by a multiple of 128MB as the partitions are made of chunks of 128MB, 256MB, 512MB or 1024MB...

Since the PS2 uses 24bit LBA, the theoretical limit is 128GB.

Doesn't matter but the only reason they have a 10GB limit is political, regarding their license of use of the PS2 hardware.

Anyway there's enough argument on both sides of the tug here. I was just trying to show that SOME of the stuff Square-Enix has been touting as reasons to not work on the game decently is actually ***** ...

The fact is that before they didn't want to do the things properly but now that they're hurting in the pockets they seem to be more "soft" about reworking their stuff.

well, you know how to work ctrl-c ctrl-v in any case

it doesn't really matter if the motivations for the unchanging partition size are political or whatever your personal conspiracy theories are

what matters is it's controlled by sony and they have zero motivation to go back and fix something for a decadish old game when there's no profit in it for them

the fact is, the partition size is going to remain static for the foreseeable future, whether it's political or not

which is probably why sony seems to be considering dropping the ps2 as more viable than working a partition change

He's a PS2 hacker and homebrew developer on PSX-Scene.com. He's been doing it since before FFXI came out in Japan. I wouldn't have been able to provide the PS2 DAT files I have without the program modification he wrote to let me dump them to a USB flash drive.

They just closed down the survey @5 AM EST, didn't last that long at all lol. I guess they didn't want the opinions of players unable to play due to billing issues >.>!

Also, they said it weird lol:

You could still log into PlayOnline Viewer to take the survey, even with inactive FFXI Content IDs, since you just had to load the FFXI page, not click the Play button. I took the survey, and haven't been able to activate my Content IDs since July started.

Well, the PS2 partition was expanded, I hear it's 15 GB now. They are keeping it working on PS3.
