DO you expect a FFXI expansion for 90+?
Seeing Square Enix is unwilling to give us stuff like:

I attribute not only their laziness and ignorance to the FFXI community at large, but also due to the fact that SE has posted a net loss of 12.04 million Yen (approximately $155,000 USD) in the last fiscal quarter ending in March 2011. (Wikipedia shows net income of -12.04 million Yen, which you can see in their earnings portfolio linked there; so it's a net loss rather than net income.)
So, pretty much, they cannot afford "another loss" especially with FFXIV not earning any income at all.
Worst still is that Square Enix is planning to announce a THIRD MMO by March 2012 when FFXI is pretty much recycling itself and FFXIV is stillborn for the moment.
One can only hope that games such as Deus Ex Human Revolution and Final Fantasy Type-0 will bring Square Enix much needed funds to hopefully start new projects or improve its current ones.
moving FFXI to DirectX 9 and away from DX 8, which they decided not to before WotG was released
new expansions that don't look like a rehash of other zones, which is pretty common in FFXIV considering how many terrain assets look alike...
updated character models, graphics for equipment, zones and mobs, which will sadly never happen
