I still swear by my reverse shrugs
So what do you guys listen to in the gym/during cardio? Figure you'd be able to help each other out w/ some motivational musik.
My reason for saying you guys being to help each other out because mine will help nobody lol, everyone pretty much just goes "how the fk do you workout to that" lol Mine used to vary day to day,but now I go without my own music because in ear/sports headphones suck and I've never found a pair that will fit me properly.
I cant even remember what my workout playlist looked like anymore :( I do remember it was alot of music with good old school beats though, even a few new songs that arent great but have ok workout beats Bahamut.Baconwrap said: » Shadowe Elrik said: » lulz I do sets with 650+. If any of them are serious about their fitness, they also aren't posting on ffxiah.com, they are on http://www.bodybuilding.com/.

What do you think the serious builders do? Wake up,work out for 12 hours straight and go to sleep? People have hobbies too. A day is long as hell to fit alot in. I've been to bodybuilding.com and stopped bothering to go there because EVERYONE that replied to any question relivant to me was "get HUGE" and not what I'm after. Granted I'm not in shape but thanks to my own research and hints and tips from like minded people from some of the same boat as me,I'm at least on the right path I think the appropriate response is: Arcmarc, do you even lift?
I think this thread is a more chill and friendly environment where I expect to get less douchebag answers to questions. I think this thread is a more chill and friendly environment where I expect to get less douchebag answers to questions. Sure I lift - I'm 35 and in pretty good shape. Just did a 5K last fall in under 21 minutes and I'm 6 feet tall, 210 pounds, with 16% body fat. I just haven't read many things on this thread that are of good use. As for nutrition; I've found that the best routine to getting into shape is eating the same thing every day and using a good stack of suppliments to get the things natural foods cannot. My grocery list typically looks like this for one week (shop at Whole Foods if you can afford it by the way; I'd rather spend more money on higher quality foods then at the doctors office): 1 10 oz. grass fed steak (lean like strip steak or tenderloin) 1 10 oz. wild caught fish high in fatty acids (salmon, tuna, sea bass, etc..) 2-3 pounds of chicken breast(free range, organic) 3 dozen organic, free range eggs oatmeal organic salad greens (red or green leaf lettuce, carrots, celery, cucumbers, broccoli) pine nuts for the salad dressing of choice (got to live a little) 3-4 cans of wild caught tuna green tea (look for one high in flavaniods, and more importantly, high in catechins - this is your best natural pre-workout drink hands down; ignore all the fancy chemicals out there and go natural). 1 loaf whole grain bread strawberries, blueberries and bananas. Supliments - I change these monthly so not to plateau, last month I used On nutrition Optimen for my multivitamin, MHP Probolic SR as my protein, a waximaze suppliment to mix with the protein as my post workout carb, creatine monohydrate, and CLA suppliments with each meal. Breakfast is always oatmeal and 3-4 eggs. Only 1 yolk, the rest are egg whites. I like them over easy and sometimes use whole grain bread and dunk that in the yolk - yum. Mid-morning snack is a handful of berries with a banana. Lunch is typically grilled chicken salad. I work from home so this is easier for me to prepare then others. You might find grabbing a high protein, low carb sandwich works better for you depending on your routine. Sometimes I change the chicken in for a can of tuna; but lunch is always salad time for me. Afternoon snack is typically a protein shake then my workout (I have a home gym in my house so working from home and being able to work out at home is a huge benefit) followed by another protein shake and a carb complex (or banana) plus a scoop of creatine. Next month I've changed out the PWO drink of protein for MHP DARK MATTER - this stuff is awesome but I only use it for 6-8 weeks at a time then swap it out so not to plateau. Dinner is eather chicken breast, steak or fish with salad or pasta. Next months suppliment stack: MHP dark matter Optimum Nutrition Natural Whey protein Optimum Nutrition Opti-men multivitamin CLA L-carnitine suppliment (trying to burn some extra fat for summer) Green Tea extract (again, trying to burn more fat) As for workouts - well I'm on my like 4th round of P90x because the last six months of 2012 I was running and just lifting for strength and wanted to prep myself to do P90x-2; I figure one more 90 day round of p90x would get me the strength and endurance needed to get what I want out of p90x-2. A lot of lifters knock this workout but only because they haven't done it. I have a lot of weight at my house (up to 85 pound dumbells) and use them in my workouts. Also, I'm 35 years old and weigh 210 pounds at 6 feet tall and can do 20 wide form pullups and can rep out close to 100 pushups in a single set. I've also completed insanity twice which was great for losing fat but it didn't do what I wanted as far as strength is concerned. That's all I've got for my advice. If you lifters out there still want to knock P90x that's fine - I don't have a bench at home so all I do is pushups mainly for chest exercises; I was in Salt Lake City at the beginning of December at my buddy's house who does have a bench; I thought since I was 2010 pounds I'd struggle to bench 225 or 250, but I had no issues putting up 300 pounds 7 times - again, my workouts only incorporate pushups. Let the trolling begin. Let the trolling begin. I'm not going to troll P90x b/c I know it's a difficult workout. Ultimately, if it's working for you that's all that really matters. It also seems like you have your diet very much in check, way better than my own. I think we can all agree a great body starts in the kitchen. So props on your diet. I don't think necessarily lifters troll P90x. It's more like, well they each achieve different goals. If you are going for mass then yeah the solid iron is going to be your best bet. If you are going to cutting P90x is great. It's an excellent circuit training workout. P90x is great at home work-out routine, but it is expensive. Gym memberships are very cheap now a days, well at least in my area. Cerberus.Arcmarc said: » Sylph.Spency said: » I think the appropriate response is: Arcmarc, do you even lift? So that automatically means this ISNT a viable starting point for anyone just starting, looking to start or for someone in shape to get opinions/ideas on what worked for other people? And because you're so buff and healthy......what are YOU doing posting on here? You're not allowed play XI remember? You're in shape after all! And because you're so buff and healthy......what are YOU doing posting on here? You're not allowed play XI remember? You're in shape after all! fair enough - I guess I took the time to post this because I realized my previous post didn't offer much. I play FFXI all day long because I work from home - 1 screen work, the other screen ffxi. I have it easier to accomplish my above routine because I'm home all day long. This may not be the case for someone who commutes an hour to work, is there from 8 to 5, comes home and still wants to play FFXI and workout for 1 to 1.5 hours. I think P90x is a great way to start anything if you can stick with it. I've made P90x into a heavy lifting routine with heavier weights. I must admit, however, I do miss the leg press and squats and bench, but I haven't coughed up the dough for all that (yet). And if it's too intense for people at first, there is always Power 90 which is similar but without the pullups and the workouts are a bit shorter. For someone that wants to start out and doesn't want to spend a lot of money or feel that the gym membership is burning more holes in your wallet then calories, then a home fitness program is what's right for you. Grab some resistant bands, a pullup bar and a nutritional guide and stick to it for 90 days. You can torrent p90x and the nutrition guide and you can get a pullup bar and resistance bands for under 50 bucks. You can buy p90x for like $100 bucks - not sure how much a gym membership is these days, but if it's a decent gym it's probably at least $30 bucks a month (probably more then p90x costs for 90 days) - I remember the one I belonged too in downtown chicago was $115 a month so p90x was a no-brainer ($1000 in weights later...). I have Fossil Park for my cardio, so things such as p90x aren't even considered, but it's a fine program for people who don't have conveniently located free obstacle courses around their home.
Have brought people to Fossil to run my routine and tell me it was harder for them than Tough Mudder, lol I thought p90x was like 300$... 100 isn't bad actually. I pay 40/month for LA fitness.
You only need the base program - but you will also need the resistance bands at a minimum which you can get cheaper then from beachbody's website at like *** or any sporting goods store. I really recommend getting a pullup bar - there's nothing like when you can only do 2-5 pullups, or maybe only 1, or non at all, then to work your way up to 5, 10, 15 or even 20. It's taken me 2 years to get to 20 from 7; but that's due to taking breaks here and there. I'm sure if I worked out consistantly that 20 would have come quicker. I think I need to start losing weight before going passed 20 though - 20 pullups at 210 pounds is hard enough.
Here's a bunch of different purchasing options My Florida gym is free now, and once I graduate, $5/year (for alumni status and able to use the gym that way).
My CA gym is free. Some church has a gym built next door, full gym + boxing gym that they run for free to keep the kids off the streets. I clicked it. P90x ultimate is over 350 bucks on that site!!

Because I work out at home I am more consistant with my workouts and motivation comes easier. Sometimes getting to the gym is the hardest part - having it at home gives me no excuse. I have another 2 months of bulking before I start my cutting cycle so perhaps I will turn to p90x. I have the resistance bands and pullup bar already so yah. I might download p90x and give it a go just to see how well I can do and how it measures to the results of my Fossil Park obstacle course training (which I run 3 nights a week)
