Oh I'm a fan of VII because it's part of my childhood. I played the game last month, I never thought it was "WAWZ this is LIEK the BEST RPG EVAR MADE" or something. It's a very sucessful and good RPG, but it's not like OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.
I think it was OMG back in the day for me because it was the first RPG I ever played.

That being said, I still like VII enough to own the Collector's Edition of Advent Children, the Dirge of Cerberus game and Crisis Core (man I loved that game!).

I really liked VIII for some reason or other though. The plot was complicated and at times I was pissed at Squall, Zell and found Rinoa and Selphie way annoying a lot of the times.
But I grew fond of them, somehow.. don't really know why.


...my #1 complain about VIII though is that freaking draw thing. Ugh.

Was a couple years ago, PRE-MUSTACHIO. lol I could now though probably. Especially for 6. Lot's of editing tools to change everything ever in that game.
I would love to see Mog with a moustache. o.o

But on a serious note... XIII imo, is not for everyone.
I for one... loved every second of the game. But like I said it's not for everyone D: Lots of people disliked it.

People claim that XIII is way straight forward. It is, in fact, the game is a huge "go this way, no other way to go".

But... on the other hand, people LOVED Xenogears. And more straight forward than Xenogears's 2nd CD is impossible.

Just my two cents!

I actually don't rail against 8 like I used to. I'm slightly more tolerant anymore, especially realizing my beloved 7 was pretty cliche anyway. I also noticed it's impossible to love all of one FF game, but it's sure as hell easy to hate an entire one. I'm looking at you, 12.
I love all of FF6. All of it I say!

As for FF13, it has good battle mechanics, but if you're looking for awesome story/storytelling I wouldn't go there. It is tolerable to play and satiates boredom though. It is also shiney.

I like the way you think Flion, optimistic.

But knowing SE I'm not too sure... look at out the canon-titles tied to a FF game. Dirge of Cerberus, FFX-2, etc.
They were all considered horrible games.

...not that I hated them. In fact I had a lot of fun with Dirge of Cerberus and had quite a bit of fun with FFX-2. But knowing SE, some way, somehow, they'll screw up something I think.

And then we'll all go back to the "ugh this game sucked" trend.

When I was like 12 with an SNES I would of argued that not all of 6 was great. Namely FEEDING CID THE GODDAMN FISH ON THE WORLD OF RUIN ISLAND. Meh :3
xD I actually didn't mind doing that. Sometimes I just let him die, especially if I am in a pissy mood. "Here Grandpa Cid! Eat a rotten fish and die so I can get the *** off this island!" :D

The difference is Xenogears =/= FF. One big appeal of FF was the chance to explore and do what you wanted. The fact that XIII completely forgot this fact angers me. It just didn't feel right. Xenogears is a different game. It has it's own rules. It can be as linear as it wants. I think XIII could have been a decent game if it just had a different name. It doesn't feel like a FF.

Those are my two cents. :3
