I didn't know you've fought zombies before my bad. In my mind the zombies are like ragers in the 28 days movies. I guess everyone just hopes that they'd be the slow mindless shuffling ones.

At any rate there no shining chance in hell that i'd ever want to get close to one and expend all that energy wildly swinging whatever was in my hands killing them rather then hang back a few hundred yards and just pick them off.

Also until it happens it's not fact.

Except the "zombies" in 28 days/weeks later weren't really zombies. The were basically just rabid really. Just normal people running around enrage. Sure they had that anger strength but a shot in the chest still took them down. It's not really hope so much as it's just not physically possible for something to maintain that lvl of mobility if the vast majority of it's systems are shutdown. You just can't convert enough energy without air for one. So unless you are assuming some kind of supernatural occurence...

And only an idiot swings wildly. And you aren't going to always have ammo. Should conserve it for situations where you need it. Like being surronded and ***.

Touché I didn't remember that. but if they are already dead why would they need air? they wouldn't even have a heartbeat. It's hard to come to an agreement when the vast majority or movies and fiction books about zombies i've read veer wildly from other opinions.

At the same time though would you rather rush into a bunch of them (and yes when fighting for your life you will find yourself swinging wildly trust me on that one)? I mean that would be a lot of blood giving a higher risk for infection. I dunno I'd rather shoot a person then bash their skull in.

They wont need a heartbeat or air to live since the vast majority of the body isn't up and running and doesn't need it. But your muscles still need energy to work. And without breathing or heartbeat very little oxygen is present and Anaerobic respiration is extrememly innefficient and actually harmful to us. Just going from a logical biological standpoint

And no I wouldn't rush a bunch of them. That's just silly. But a few here and there with decent distance between them maybe. Ammo conservation is very important. I plan on luring them into traps anyways

I found these the other day on ThinkGeek...

Zombie Brain Gelatin Mold

Emergency Inflatable Brain

...obviously real brains (to use as zombie-bait for zombie-traps/quick getaways/etc.) will be in short supply during a full-blown apocalypse scenario, so these would be invaluable! ;_;

I already have my weapons, an entire house filled with swords...I don't agree with using guns during the zombie apocalypse because everyone knows noise brings more of them. whereas my swords will only make slicing sounds that can't be heard over distance.

Hoard already coming at you, pick up a gun..

Otherwise they make too much noise and will attract more zombies..

But yeah, if there's like some huge hoard coming after you, you might as well pick up a gun and start unloading.. Just make sure to save a bullet for yourself.

I wouldn't pick a crowbar for melee though.. An axe would be good, but you'd get tired of swinging it after a while.. So pick up like a katana or some other sword that is relatively small and light and is extremely sharp. Aim for the neck.

yeah actually I agree with this...guns, sure if there's tons of 'em already and what not but after the slaughter switch back to noiseless weapons.

@OP I wouldn't pick crowbar for the reason it has s small reach and you would end up with a higher risk of infection. I would say a durable item such as a metal bat which has longer each or something of that nature for single zombies.

and... Shotgun for hoards imo. :O

lol would you have enough to go around?

if ammo wasn't an issue i'd pick exploding bolts and a cross-bow just to make em think twice.

if i needed a silent kill I'd do it Shaun of the dead style, ashtray's to the head, garden tools.

Or just get a petrol powered chain saw and camp out in a petrol station

Yes, it would be a cure similiar to daywalkers movie. One infected subject would spread the cure to the others. All i would have to do is sit and wait.

I would have to go with a shotgun then.

If you're facing like 100+ zombie though, AK-47 maybe.

I know this has probably been covered, I only read the first page. But seriously. You're dead. I would never go with anyone who used a shotgun... Sure, it takes little skill to kill a zombie with one but...

1.) They relead slow. Real slow.
2.) They make a lot of noise. Hello more zombies.
3.) Have you ever tried shooting a shotgun while running? I haven't either, but I wouldn't like to try.
4.) If you're talking about a large 8-gauge or something, they're gunna be heavy and tire you out.

My weapon of choice would always be dual pistols. Probably Browning Hi-Power or something - Note though, this is not to use two at once, but simply to have a second for quick swap on reloading. Using two at once might get more kills... But your shots are going to be more clumsy and waste ammo, ammo is *** precious man. Also I'd definately agree with either a katana or axe for melee weapon. Not a fan of blunt.

Protips:
Running and firing a weapon at anything more than a few feet away is practically impossible.

Unless you train for marathons, you're probably going to get eaten when running is necessary, as most Americans can't successfully run a mile.

Weapons are heavy. Go pick up a five pound weight and hold it out in front of you for a few minutes. Now do that with two weights. Get my point?

With this information in mind, I know I'm a negative nancy, would your choice of weapons change? I'm not suggesting an ideal weapon, it just seems people have a strange idea of reality when this topic comes up. I would want a beheading device, a sidearm with a moderate clip load, and a lightweight assault rifle for distance.

You do realise a beheading device would blunt pretty fast right? Go try chopping something as hard bone over and over again.

It had better be sharp enough to behead them in one swing, or you'll get your 'beheading device' stuck in a neck >.>

Good plan.

Personally IF I had the training a crossbow would be great occasionally. The only problem is that accuracy is necessary and the fact that you'd run out of bolts pretty fast.

Good for killing something quickly and quietly though.

I'd still go with a crowbar as my weapon of choice though.

When the ***hits the fan, I'ma grab a weapon I can keep close to the chest,
something like a baseball bat. I mean preferably I'd be prepared with a Batman style utility belt as well.

I've seen the movies, guns only go so far. It will always come down to hand to hand combat.

You run out of ammo or drop your gun in the final scene.
