I thought it was beyond the 50% or so threshold, as adding more at that point, wouldn't have as great of an effect because you are already likely to DA... I thought there was a number for that traits diminishing returns.. my bad :P

sorry being rough her
but if you don't understand WHY its has diminishing returns. then why do you bring it up ?

so many ppl on this forum talk about diminishing returns but have no understanding of why it is or how it works.

the only hard cut-off of diminishing returns on DA math wise (no forced cap from SE) would be 100% anything above 100% gives 0% more attacks

Question, what comes second to Vulcan's Earring for WS? Would a +1% Crit Rate Light Earring from Miserau mean anything?

I had a similar question earlier that also got looked over.

I came up with this answer: If the earring helps cap crit rate, it would be better than +4 STR earring.

In Abyssea:

RR= 30%, dDEX= 20% Merits = 5% Grip = 3% Tonberry = 5% AF3+2 Hat = 3%
=66%
Earring = 67%
Zahak's = 70%

That should cap Crit Rate in Abyssea, assuming that Ukko's Fury is indeed +30% at 100% TP.

That set allows you to keep 100% Crit Rate while using AF3+2 legs, instead of trophy legs.

Someone might be able to come out with math and say that +4 STR or AF3 Earring is better though.

To understand "diminishing returns" on Double Attack, think of attacks as discrete objects. So let's pretend we have a bag of marbles. Each marble represents one attack. Let's consider per 100 attacks, so initially, we have 100 marbles in our bag.

This is +0% Double attack.

So, considering only DA, our bag can hold up to 200 marbles.

Let's say we start with 0% DA and add 25% DA from gear/traits whatever.
We now have 125 marbles in the bag. We've increased the number of marbles by 25%. Similarly, we're now doing 125 attacks in the time of 100, which is a 25% increase.

If you have 50% DA already and add 25% DA, you're adding 25 marbles to 150 marbles (175 attacks in the time of 150) which is about a 17% increase.

Another way to think of it is that each 1% of double attack you add is slightly less effective than the previous 1% you added, but it's still an increase.

So when people call diminishing returns on DA, what they mean is that at high DA%, you may get better performance out of some other stat than adding a small amount of double attack, whereas when your double attack % is low, adding a small amount of DA is a much harder thing to beat.

A note on my previously mentioned max dex sets for VWNMS. The vwnm (T1 mandy on windy path, which is one of the easier ones) I fought seemed to have an agi too high to to make it effective. in 3 fights I had a crit rate of 17% fulltiming 176 dex with 3% critrate gear and 5merits, so 9% crit from dex. this was out of 132 landed hits. Very small sample size. Will post more as I get more data.

What would the best TP set-up be if don't have Zelus Tiara?
Walahra Turban and Bullwhip or Walahra Turban and Goading Belt or some other set-up?

Thanks in Advance

Off the top of my head, wala/goading/timarli hands should cover you.
Although the new fazheulo sets might be better.

Random augments blow, would be nice if you could like, burn 10 trophies at once or something for better augment chances.

SE's new logo should be the trollface.
I guess it's not as bad as what you'd have to do in the past for Crit+3 WS+2%

Old dev team would have had them drop from some 72hour NM and still drop with random augments.

speaking of trollface, i want someone to replace the current paralysis status icon with a yellow trollface and the weakened status one with the normal trollface

would probably suck a million *** for those to exist tbh

I would go for the trollface on paralysis status.
Didn't realize I was paralyzed and had a brew go poof while trying to leech Felibre's Dague off a pickup group, lol.

Punchline: Friend brewed to save my ***, dagger still didn't drop (despite blue proc).

i initially found out about paralysis being able to eat items back when i was still a domaruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu samurai back in like early '05, where heavy stomp from the one shadow dragon mini-boss guy in dynamis buburimu ate like seven bags of shihei as i tried to open one up

needless to say, i was /nin too there, to make it worse :(

i had wsdmg2 for a while which i used on blood rage weapon skills, but now with these, i can use them full time for the most part, though hachiryu is still pretty much the best for fell cleave as far as i'm aware, so they still serve more of a purpose than just town gear for me on warrior thankfully

Probably depends on your buffs/etc, I believe Zahak's would win-outside with Blood rage down though, due to our crit rate being not as high as it is inside abyssea, etc.

As I continue to try for 3/2 B.Cuisses(0/302), I was wondering if my 4% crit rate N.Legs would be an upgrade over AF3+2 inside Abyssea. At the moment I'm using 4% crit dmg Byakko's outside and AF3+2 inside(when attack isnt capped), was curious if the N.Legs have a place in either set. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
