Well soon I'm starting Final Fantasy VII again... but I think it's kinda easy on the most part so I've decided to artificially ramp up the difficulty by imposing class restrictions.

If anyone is bored, could you read over my musings and see if you have any opinions on the matter or any suggestions.

(excuse the format, I made this in wordpad)

I’ve gotten kind of used to just being lazy and having Aeris use a summon to almost always kill a large group of enemies so I don’t have to deal with them and also to bump up her kill rating to get her Lvl 2-1 Limit. Suffice to say I’m going to trade her out for Barret to train him a bit before his big fight with Dyne. Cloud can be the party healer in Aeris’ absence. Might even trade Tifa out for Yuffie, but I don’t know if I want to give up my Black Mage for an ok attacker who I’d just use to nab some items with the Steal command further drawing out the length of battles.

I don't want to do a silly level 1 challenge, I want it to feel true to the final fantasy nature of class based levels.

(excuse any typos)

Doesn't imposing class restrictions totally destroy the only cool and original gameplay aspect of FFVII, I also don't see how swapping Party members is fundamentally different then swapping Materias.

How about you just try not using Auto-Win Combinations? Or Start to Finish using Default Weapons?

Also, Barret should be the Thief.

Yeah I can see that, but I just wanted to impose a challenge that kind of has traditional final fantasy roots. After completing it 4-5 times I just wanted to make it feel different I guess.

The Ingraham experience, age 11:

*1 crusty MechWarrior 4 joystick with unmappable controls
*FF7 PC (make sure the disc is all scratched up)
*Equip only green/red materia because "the rest are hecka gay and they don't give you any magics", effectively retarding your stats.
*Shut off the PC at random intervals to simulate freezing up.
*Every 10 seconds, cycle the cursor without stopping then confirm. This simulates more features of the joystick.
*Active only

Ok instead of making a new thread .. I just did the download on utorrent for ff7 like you suggested. The file was the 2.2 one so.I am pretty sure it is the right one. I still can not get it to translate onto my laptop. Says read only and Iso file. I tried to zip it and it doesn't Seem to work. On torrent it says 100 complete and then seeding. Whatever that means. So any help would be awesome. I need something to play while we are down.

Try a hash check on the torrent.

Also, an ISO file is a disc image. Try burning it with whatever or mounting it using Daemon or some other program.

EDIT

Also on the lines of making VII harder - I read somewhere once (Long time ago) That getting to level 100 makes Sephiroth tougher at the end. Any truth in that or just internet retardation at its best?

Figured as much. Only ever got as high as level 90, so never tested it out.

For the msot part, as long as your properly leveled, you can finish the game with jsut attack and cure. Their for if u want a challange, try it severly under leveled. Both pp and meterial.

When i was still a child, with ff7 being my first rpg style game, i got to the last sephoroth at like maybe lvl 20~ with rly poor equip. Rly didnt have much of a clue. Took me month to beat sephoroth that way lol.
