it's not an opinion.

not playing a game because you don't like how it looks makes you rather vain, and it shows you have no taste.

aka not valid.
Some people play games for the visuals. Some people watch movies for the action. If someone goes to see a super hero movie, and there is 5 min of action, and 1hr 45min of story, then they don't like it; that doesn't mean they have no taste. It simply means they have different taste.

One of my biggest peeves is controls. If a game has clumsy controls, I can't enjoy it. Doesn't matter how good the story is, how amazing the graphics are. If my inputs aren't fluid and responsive, I don't play it. That doesn't mean I don't have taste, it is my opinion that the game is terri-bad to me because it doesn't appeal to the things I enjoy in a game.

Personal opinion: FF1-6 > FF7-13
My wife didn't start playing FF games until 7, so she prefers it and everything after, over the old ones. But, we get to show each other nifty things about FF games either of us might not have discovered on our own. It kinda works out.
personally I find anything after XI to be meh.

I enjoyed the parts of 1-6 I've played, but never actually finished one.

7-X I've all finished, and thoroughly enjoy, (well short of some issues with IX, like no New Game+ and the jump rope minigame, but that's probably because I'm not asian)

bad controls or story are two valid reasons for not enjoying a game, old graphics isn't. vain = bad taste, ugh please don't make me go do research on why this is...

as for the movie bit, it means they have bad taste, kind of like twilight fans.

I'm only level 13, and I didn't play beta, but you basically desynth any magic+ quality gear(blue) and get mats from desynthing. You then pay to level up the blacksmithing or w/e it's called craft, and gain new recipes everytime you level it, even if it's not a FULL level.

The gear you can make has random mods, usually 2-3, and is pretty good blue quality gear. I have orange(I'm guessing rare?) mats also, but haven't gotten any recipes that use them yet.

You can make all kinds of weapons/armor from just leveling the one craft.

He never said it made/broke the game... just that it wasn't his personal preference... you know don't play a game you're not going to personally enjoy... comprehension.. you need it... lol... /sigh

reading comprehension do you need it?

or the ability to infer?

if somebody does/doesn't play a game for X reason it means it makes/breaks the game for them.

I WONDER IF THERE WILL BE COWS!
If there are I will murder them and eat their delicious meat.

I've always got an extra Wirt's Leg for when the mad cow epidemic strikes on a global scale. Best thing about Hell Bovines is that they come precooked!

btw this is my first time playing diablo series was playing it with my friend since release today so 3am my time. after 1hr of failed logins because of high traffic volume we got in and i JUST finished playing lol lvl 19 on act II now. maybe cus its my first time but act II lol got serious on us. also i quoted these because on act two i saw what looked like a cow bell and it was called wirt something cost 100k gold to buy and description said something about demons coming ring this and something will come. also ive found the game to be pretty good so far.

Yeah, no offline :/

Funny, the best times I ever had with Diablo II were at LAN parties, but they're saying it's more of a counter-measure towards cheating (I guess that makes sense to an extent, with the introduction of the RMT Auction House).

Edit: “Now, that doesn’t mean you can’t play a game by yourself – of course you can. You can go into and start any game that you want, you’ll just be connected to the Battle.net servers, and we can authenticate your character.”

Taken from the article.. so basically, you're able to do the same thing under the sanction of the subscription fee that you pay, which seems reasonably justified.
D3 doesn't have a subscription fee.

Furthermore D3 isn't really an MMO in the Everquest clone sense of the word (FFXI, WOW, etc). It's more like a single player game that has small man multiplayer capabilities in unique worlds that anyone can instance whenever they want to. If you've played D2, you'd already know this, because it's the exact same model.

I remember having LAN parties some 15 years ago and you know what? I don't miss hauling my ***into some guy's garage/basement to have a multiplayer experience that the internet has replaced. Get those same guys, get them all on vent, and play over the internet. Tada.

Myself, I miss LAN parties. We get a big group of friends piled into an apartment, cables and systems strewn about everywhere, and have a blast. The Internet made things more convenient, but that face-time comradery is gone.

Lugging the equipment got to be a pain in the butt(even did it in the middle of a blizzard once), but the payoff was worth it for us.

*cue sad epilogue music*

you know, you can still have "LAN" parties for all intensive purposes.

I mean LAN parties were the shizz like 10 years ago cause no one really had high speed internet and if you wanted to have lag free games a LAN gathering was the only way to do it.

But seriously who now DOESN'T have a high speed connection?

Make sure everyone has a wireless card on dongle for their computer and make sure the host has a wireless AP, boom.

I mean if you're all in the same room and on a server that is close to your location and have a good DL/UL you should be getting pings in like the 30-60s.

I mean I understand, times are a changin' and it kinda sucks... but it's really not all that different

I don't have high speed, well I don't consider 3g "high speed"

it's unstable, and it's rare anyone can get unlimited data, and data plans are expensive, a switch and making your own ethernet cables isn't.

a group of people online in the same room isn't the same as a lan party, unless you mean by playing together in the same room being the same, otherwise it's entirely different, higher lag, and nowhere near as cheap.

I used to play pokemon when playing X, but I get too absorbed in those two to multitask at that level, unless I were grinding AP near the end.
