Wow, just woke up to backread, and this is starting to look more and more like a bad disaster movie, except it's all real and happening right now ._.

Yeah.. I'm really scared about that power plant.. water damage and buildings can be repaired.. a nuclear explosion will make the land useless.

Well, reactor's can't "explode" per say if I recall correctly, but failure to cool can cause a meltdown and thus severe irreversible radiation damage. No living soul will be able to come close to that area for a long long time if that happens ;/

Oh they can explode. It's just not like a Nuclear bomb going off. They rain down fallout in a very wide radius around the explosion. That's what happened at Chernobyl.

This is a sad event, and although I do not believe in the big man upstairs, my prayers go out to all those involved. Another very sad thing is the amount of absolute scum and trolls on Asura who have been cracking jokes and talking smack about the event, while the death toll is still rising. I only feel shame for such people.
Yes, I completely agree. Edit: Yes Degs.
Yeh I kept out of port jeuno because I saw that kinda ***comming... I'm not someone who prays but my heart goes out to anyone and everyone who lives in the areas or has friends/family there.
It's just kids that aren't mature enough to understand what is happening yet, and as such haven't developed compassion for others yet.

Sadly i'm pritty sure most 5 year olds would understand better then to keep the jokes running. Odd one here and there I can understand as human nature... but when they keep comming my faith in humanity drops faster then the time some people left a dirty diaper on a table at my work >.>

Guys, if you aren't absolutely sure about something, or have a source, don't say it please. You are just confusing the overall picture.

Suppose that makes sense. One gigantic rupture in a fault line will essentially loosen and give momentum for previously untriggered earthquakes to occur.

I've been watching the Beeb live feed all afternoon, before I came to FFXIAH and saw this thread.
What a disaster.
My prayers go out to everyone caught in this disaster, and I hope the new day brings new light on things, so that they can start the rescue effort.

Just hope there aren't many more aftershocks - the latest news is that 6.6 in central NW Japan. Worrying.
Hopefully the venting of the radioactive steam at Fukushima-Daiichi will stop any potential meltdown there.

Fingers crossed everyone, let's hope we all have good news of our Japanese friends / family soon.
