Thank /a/ for the image ^^. It's a little out dated (by about a year and a bit), but everything on it is awesome.

To the op. I'm currentyl in the same boat. The last 5 years was like "meh" but still got some good stuff.

Other proposition (I didn't saw through all pages)
- Kurenai (just don't watch the "flash" opening, skip it really)
- Freedom
- Dennou Coil (too childlish but still a good story line for me)
- Kara no Kyokai

Kara no Kyokai would be my example of an ideal anime. Music, art, story, all near perfect.

Freedom artwork was weak imo, the story didnt rock me either.

Coil is too childish as u said.

Kurenai i found ok, nothing spectacular tho.

dude, death note blows.

Ryuk is the only thing that came good out of it.
/grin(this is not a "i'm sarcastic" grin btw)

of course the manga trumps the anime...but meh when it's all said and done it's an over-worked over-done trend-bot.
the anime and film releases killed it lol.

I'd rather had something more morbid to close it out.
If they would have done something to that extent I would have been way more impressed.

I so love Murder princess ;; I want another season!
I can suggest to watch this:
1) Mai Hime / Mai otome (maybe a little girlie side, but story and sounds are something of epic!)
2) The third
3) Fortune arterial
4) Witchblade
5) Tokyo Magnitude 8.0

I'm watching atm Super Robot Inspector and Bakuman. Oh btw... I never understand a ***from Evangelion anime >< I hate it.

Was reading DN since english releases started. The outcome wasnt my ideal either but there was no real way light COULD win.

Yeah but he was for awhile so I figured maybe they wouldn't do something stupid and contrived just because the "bad guy" has to lose

Dont really see how it was contrived. The plot twist came in the same vein as other twists in the plot - unexpected and no way for the reader to realise until they were revealed. Also at the very start, we knew that if light started losing, Ryuk would kill him. At the end, if Ryuk didnt kill him then, someone else would.

Death note is the only manga I read purely because I couldn't wait for the next anime episode to come out. And since they followed so closely/well it was nice

I mean everything aligned perfectly to barely make light lose most of it being dumb luck or relying on other people. If I was N I would be buying lotto tickets. Any number of things could've been different to make light win. Not to mention that is like the only time in the entire show light didn't make some sort of back up or counter plan. He had a veritable army on his side that he had already used for example...

Anyone who likes mecha anime should check out the Super Robot Wars crossover games.

Here's the second PV for the latest game for the PSP. If you can at least recognize 3 shows here, you're on the right track. If not, enjoy probably one of the last bastions of 2D animation in modern vidya.

As for them mangos, glad to see some Gantz readers here though. Personally, I think it's a trainwreck now, but that only means I can't take my eyes off it. What wacky alien shenanigans are there next? Last time I read it...

His sanity had been deteriorating since the get go really, very slowly and well done but its not outside believability that he was simply overconfident. The whole point of that 'gamble' was to leave the readers in the dark - which was done very well, if either side had used a back up plan, or had access to a more certain method, it would remove a lot of the mystery.

I still say the loss was too forced too me. As far as leaving the reading in the dark... sure that's a nice reason for an author to do it (especially if they plan on changing ***/making more stuff) but that's not a convincing reason why the people in the story would do it. Hence why I say the ending was forced. It was written purely for the audience and not for the story

Also what about that ***at the end with the people praying. The chick they show in it reminds of that the one that was with Melo.

I THINK those were the remains of the cult of kira, and it had become a religion. Never could ID the girl tho.

I for one am just glad that no zelotist author has jumped on that last scene as a means to continue a popular series.

Yet...

Though I'd kinda like to see it continued on. Like even without the Death Note. Just the whole social movement and the cult and such. Would be a bit different but could be interesting

Tbh yeh, but even in the original series, the note itself was just a plot tool rather thn 'the' major plot imo. If a continuation was well done - ideally by the original author - then even bringing back the note wouldnt nessercerily be a bad thing. So long as its not a 'hey i'm Ryuk, i got bored once and im bored again, heres a death note!' ***fest.
