Why? Half the time (actually I think all the time) you can set spellcast do gear swap everything for you, and you can //(name) to manually type things. Don't really need macros.

my own brother at 75 <a good while ago> asked if he can trick atk on himself(yes he had thf at 75 for a good while at the time).

To be fair to the person who asked the question in the OP, not many people do magic burst anymore, so if they only started the game relatively recently it is possible they have never come across it.
I remember when parties were made to get the maximum out of a MB with people timing their WS, but not anymore.

I know I still see a SC animation go off followed by a spell and watch the log with glee for the extra text of glorious... accidental timing.
