My favorite is WotG
Dunno if it's my favourite but it was great. I love the lore so this was actually extremely interesting to me, I loved how they introduced the relic owners and all the other campaign npcs some of which you still see around these days. And even though time travel is always a hazardous plot I really enjoyed Lilisette story, I cried at the end too ;;

oh and the cutscenes were awesome.

I had a friend I did missions, quests, and campaign with so that made it much more enjoyable.

I hadn't slept in like a day when I did ZMs so I don't really remember much lol >_> I dozed off a few times and it felt like hours when only minutes had gone by.
It's literally shorter than some of the Add-on ones, but once you get up to Divine Might... and if you do it all in a day... while aware, it's got a pretty good and coherent story. If I were a hella awesome CoP enthusiast, I would just think of it as a prequel to CoP... well really, that's what it is.

I consider rank missions and Zilarts like an introduction mostly, they're not really that awesome but they introduce you to all the concepts of the lore.

My only quip about WoTG is that the final battle wasn't released when it should have been. Pretty sure they designed it for a lower cap level than when it was released. It didn't even last as long as ZM16 did at 75.

Other than that though, WoTG was stellar. I enjoyed it more than CoP.

never did finish Wotg :/
a fight or 2 left... but it was nice how they mixed it up with individual nation stories, and gave you that sense of peril as you delved further into it.
Windy's story made me sad and shed a tear.

TOAU was great, if you didnt spam Enter to skip CS' that is...
but there was too much CS to actual.. action missions :/

CoP, felt Blah. felt too long and it got annoying midway trough it, like, if it had some filler... honestly, felt like where where some holes in the story, or it was just lack of attention. "wait, im supposed to be looking for someone in Beaucidine? who is this guy again? who is this npc that keeps showing up? WRY do we need to do this again?

ZM...was a lil boring :x

I spam enter and confirm in other games but in 11 and 14 I always read carefully so I don't miss a bit of the story.

The new way of leveling makes it very easy to catch up to everyone to endgame, however, this is a great thing for all people coming back to the game, for people completely new I still think FFXI is really not as enjoyable. Depends on what kind of gamer he is. If he enjoys putting all the attention on the endgame, gear farming etc, then sure go ahead, however, all of the rest has kinda disappeared.
I would highly suggest doing at least the missions each at the corresponding level, if anything to experience that part of the fun we had back then, because going at 99 and oneshotting X boss is really not as inspiring. And also I would encourage exploration, I loved running around discovering new places when I was a low level newbie.
I agree with this. One of my most fun and recent experiences was leveling my Elvaan Rdm on Bismarck, and when I got to level 50 I soloed CoP up till Chapter 3. Then I leveled up to level 64, so that I would have erase from Whm sub and continued to go through COP.

The 4-2 Ouryu fight is insanely fun to solo as a level 64RDM/32WHM. It was also challenging. It took me, a 9 year FFXI veteran, 2 tries. I would also say that it's not possible for any other job at that level.
Wanted to comment on thisssss. I soloed 4-2 on BLU70 :3

It was my only job and Raubahn is a *** to beat as your first 75 cap fight.

always thought the lvl 30 melee armor looked awesome.. black leather with copper highlights, usually used more while climbing the crags during 30 cap.

Eisen!

Felt like that set looked too good to be an armor that early that you can use. You never give the nice looking armor early c.c!

As the years progress, it just feels as if we're getting too attuned to horror movies to actually make them scary anymore. Seeing the same "bad guy killing" or "terrible curse or place to be in" type of movies, just gets too repetitious and therefore not scary.
