Try going into the control panel and into game controller settings and calibrate the controller, that way you can at least identify if the shoulder buttons work outside FFXI.

the switch is to switch from x-input (xbox/new standard) to direct input (what you need for XI).
you need a custom driver, I honestly haven't looked for one, but if you find it let me know, I recently bought a wifi reciever for PC for my 360 controllers, just haven't played with it yet.
here's something on sourceforge, I use their site all the time, they do a decent job of scanning stuff, but you still may want to give it a scan.

apparently (according to a microsoft article) force feedback and using the triggers as seperate buttons isn't available with d-input, only x-input, however there are 3rd party people that have gotten it to work.
to make it simple, make sure it works fine in the gamepad settings menu, then try xi config.

Ranger is an easy one, you don't even need to kill anything. Just watch it die of its own accord and feel sympathetic about it succumbing to old age.

Yeah. I pretty much know that once you ding 30 all the advanced jobs are soloable except for SAM DRG and NIN.
Just gotta be sneaky for most of them.

A lot of the cool cats that were on Fenrir have long been long since gone. Luckily I have Schutz, Merianne, Camiie and their crew, but depending on how things turn out as I advance in standing, I'd take you up on your offer and purchase that divine, unseen hand to hoist my characters upon your realm.
I'm just going to keep playing bst. It lets me be friends with all the cute helpless animals. Well till I send them off to their inevitable doom for my own sadistic enjoyment.

I was duoing Amphitrite last night as SMN and SMN. According to my parser we summoned Garuda 197 times in total between us. I felt a little guilty and ashamed that I call her one of my closest friends in Vana'diel. :)
It's a shame they haven't added multi-server content to this game like they're planning to with 14. It would be wonderful for people from this thread to kill beasties and explore dungeons together. Curse you, SE!

I'm curious why not.
WoW is only a few years newer than FFXI and has such a capacity.
What would it be specifically that would prevent SE from being able to allow at least specific instances for cross server interactions? Or is the server transfer feature too much of a cash cow to let people have their cake and eat it too?
