wait, so you are saying you are enjoying the game more because you got a Mod to make the graphics better, yet wont try Oblivion/Skyrim ?

It was my third time playing through, the first two I got a few hours in each time and it didn't capture my interest. I enjoyed it, but not to the extent that I would put my gaming time into playing Oblivion/Skyrim.

Oblivion and Skyrim with both steps backwords from Morrowing imo... The way everything was maked exactly kinda ruined it for me since half the fun I found was getting a set or directions and following them to hunt down what/who/where you were looking for. Morrowind just seemed alot more interesting to explore as well. The npcs in skyrim and oblivion both seemed a little more alive but after a while you would notice that they still wander the same paths on a day to day basis (or maybe it was a weekly scedual, can't remember)

Hmmm to reactivate for the new expansion in April, or hold out till xiv is rereleased or forget them both together and dedicate my time to darkfall.

The choices...

Too be more specific, I really enjoyed the much more atmospheric exploration with the lighting and effect mods, sunshafts, solar shadows, wind etc. It actually felt as though I was in a dark cave or exploring the countryside in the evening. Once that novelty began to wear off though, I was getting bored with the game and rushing the quests to get to the finish. The combat is horribly outdated from Daggerfall onwards, boring and lacking in impact. The storyline quests are just interesting enough to make me want to read through the books and books or lore required to fully understand the plot but the thought of being sent to collect something or kill something for every npc in the game got old very quickly.

Interesting to note that most Elder Scrolls fans I ran into whilst searching mod forums seem to agree that Morrowind is the best.

Quotes or gtfo.

FFXIII was alright but greatly let down by the ridiculously long hallway from disc 1 to 3, I said that from the start and I say that now.

FFX had a nice story, beautiful music and good character progression and I admit I enjoyed it much more than I anticipated, but it was HORRIBLY unbalanced from halfway point onwards, so much so that it broke the game, had pointless characters that contributed nothing to the plot and the worst ability progression system I have ever witnessed.

You overthink games, Sagi.. I don't understand how you have fun with any. I think the only game I've seen you love is Xenogears.. while it is a good game.. it isn't close to the best.

Morrowind has the most options when it comes to creating a roleplay based character of the 3 I've played. Medium armor and unarmored opened up possibilites and and with weapon types broken down more there were options there as well... The part of me that knows how thing actually work wanted to bash it's head against a table when they grouped axes and swords together skill wise in skyrim. If you tried to fight with an axe the same way you fight with a sword it would not go over well. No form of defence while dualwielding was dumb as well since one of the advantages to that is being able to deflect (not blocking but just knocking an attack so it would miss you) an attack at the same time as striking out. They've taken steps forward in terms of making the game look good but simplifed it to the point where it's not that interesting anymore... You pritty much NEED mods or gtfo to have fun.

Indeed I have become very critical of games when I play them, but being an adult with important responsibilities now I find it much more difficult to be enthralled by a game and find escapism than when I was a teenager playing the golden era of playstation titles. Perhaps I was spoilt with brilliant title after brilliant title during my school years and find it hard to find a gem in the modern day cash cows?

I have lots of fun Narshecat, but I also like to keep my feet on the ground when it comes to rating games because these casuals that go around claiming that Call of Duty, Skyrim and FF10 onwards are all the best thing ever piss me right off with their ignorance.

Xenogears is something special that will never be replicated imo. It was the first time in YEARS that I was up all night long not even noticing the clock, completely absorbed in the brilliance of that game. It resides in my top 4 with Ocarina of Time, FF6 and KOTOR.

The reason you arn't finding as much enjoyment as you used to is because of how critical you are. When ever I go back and play old games that people go on about I can always pick out the exact same flaws they rail on games today about. Nothing has really changed except that developers have stopped trying to fool us when it comes to thing... A note on KOTOR, thats just extreamly watered down D&D version 3.5

I don't really care if someone enjoys FFXII, but to name it among the best games is really silly. Was a terrible FF title under so many point of views.

Not at all, I only played Ocarina of Time a couple years back, only played Xenogears less than a year ago. When I go back and re play the great games from my school years I still find them amazing and struggle to find the same flaws as I do in modern games. It's not to do with nostalgia before anybody suggests that, like I said, OoT and Xeno were recent and both belong at the top of my best games ever.
