my monitor will 'sleep' after a few minutes, when I go to wake it up it just blinks and blinks and blinks, then I get some weird gray/black bars on my screen... then it loads up my desktop as it was.

plug your netbook into it and see if it still does it.

Disable sleep mode for both your monitor and pc. change power saver from balanced to performance.

Got any suggestions on which brands? I've only decided on the 23 inchers cause they're new and nice looking, but hell even 1 32" would be awesome (at least right now, 2 later, maybe 3!)
