If he built the PC fresh, hopefully he flashed the bios and reset it and changed the settings himself. If it's blue screening on startup then he's got a corrupted file. If it's sitting idle, then he put it together wrong. If it's on fire, then hopefully he has a warentie on parts.
on the topic of Hard drives, I'm looking at maybe getting a SSD just for my boot drive, what would be the MINIMUM size I should get? I am going to be using the two I have in my PC (500GBx2) on this new build so I should have enough space (if I can/will raid them if possible I will do that)
The minimum size should be however much you want to spend on them. Having windows on an SSD is great and all, but what does that speed matter if you are loading games from a 7200rpm second and third harddrive?
Get one large enough for atleast a couple of the games you are currently playing.

The only i'm looking at is a 120GB one, should hold my OS and a few games on it fine, I'm trying to keep the price down right now until I know if and when I get my refund from college :|
Edit:
I'm also not really sure what manufacturer I should go with them, I'm seeing alot that are not TOO familiar with me so it's a daunting task to know if it's a good one or not lol, reviews from people only go so far.
I finally watched The Avengers! I loved it! And my opinion on Scarlett Johansson did a complete 180.
Before Avengers, I'd seen two movies with her. One was The Island, which I thought was all-round meh and I left unimpressed with her. (It may more have been the movie than her, I have a bad habit of disliking actors from movies if I disliked the movie. Even if the actor is just fine.)
Then I saw Iron Man, both of them. And she of course was in the second one, and I was like "This woman has one facial expression, which is a scowl, and although she's much better with her scowl than Kristen Stewart, the lady is seriously overrated."
So I went into watching The Avengers pretty much thinking Scarlett Johansson was only an actress for her pretty face and figure (not a crime, but nothing to be famous over, right) and DANG!
I really liked her in this movie! Forgive my previous ignorance, oh beautiful Scarlett one. And forgive me for thinking the name Scarlett sounds like "Little Scar." You are delightful and awesome. Also, I now want to be a Russian spy when I grow up. I better get right on that.
Gotta say, after seeing the movie like 5x (We got it early in Afghanistan via data shares. Silly subtitles but it worked)... I adored Scarlett. She was my favorite person in the whole film.
keep getting spammed by both Obama and Romney voting offices trying to pressure me to vote for one or the other....

You should watch "Lost In Translation" with her and Bill Murray. Not to sound too hipster-ish but it came out before she became a huge sex symbol and shows that she really can act. Plus, it's a great movie overall.
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
