If its the lightning one don't play it untill you have gotten the official ending, it's a giant spoiler if you do before hand.

@Narshee:

Get Sazh, Snow, and Lightning's episodes. Hands-down, no questions asked.

If you want some tough fights for a challenge, get Gilgamesh and Lightning/Amodar.

If you want cool monsters, get Omega, PuPu, and the Ultros bundles.

Thats a good breakdown.

Its not really an episode. Its basically what they should have done with the coliseum to begin with. Its adds the fight with Snow and the fight with Valfodr, and what is definitely an intro to the overall area and its purpose.

Yeah you can.

Snow's episode doesn't blow any story or plot.
Added onto the Coliseum location in the Historia Crux.
You can choose who to fight and when here at this location if you buy further monster battle DLC.

Sazh's episode is basically a few more casino mini-games and when you win enough you get his Crystal. Doesn't blow any main story or plot.
Shows up as a Serendipity location in the Historia Crux,

Lightning's: DO NOT play that until you beat the main story.
Shows up as a Valhalla location in the Historia Crux.

Requiem of the Goddess takes place after the game and pops up in the historia crux as an option so as long as you don't click on it you are good. The Coliseum ones have nothing to do with the story and I actually still have to go do the sazh one I still have to go do.

I will suggest at least (eventually) getting all the monster battle DLC. I thoroughly enjoyed picking each battle apart, narrowing down a strategy, and beating them down :P
