My sis in law is in Afghanistan too Shaidalyn. I keep wanting to ask if you know her, but that's such a slim chance! She's a nurse on a medivac (spelling? It's short for medical evacuation I'm pretty sure) helicopter.
Anyways, I hope the next 12 days go by fast and you get home to your family soon! Offline

Sadly I am not lucky enough to know her! I adore our Dust Off teams (MedEvac via Black Hawks) and wish I could work with them more. I'm in Kandahar currently. Nice and toasty with some 130+ afternoons.
I hope they go fast too. I look forward to -finally- being home to stay for more than a few months. Maybe I can finally settle down and meet someone who isn't intolerant of the Army :P And give your sis some love from a fellow medical type. I'm only a Medic, not a nurse, but I still do what I can to keep soldiers in the fight! Politics bug the crap out of me.
My husband's little brother just joined the Army too, he goes off to basic training in October. I feel so awfully selfish for this, but I really wish I could make it to where all the fighting is over by the time he is out of basic training! I know it's just not possible, there will always be fighting. And it's not possible to keep all our loved ones safe, and I have to respect his decision, and I would never tell him I hope he never sees combat or fighting. His mother worries over him enough, he doesn't have to know that we are worrying over him too! Poor guy!
130 degrees, oh dang. I whine and moan if it gets over 80 here. :-( Come home quick! And I thought 115 here in GA sucked :P. Remember soldier, keep your head down, stay alert, stay alive :D *salute*.
I don't like it when it's over 68 lol >_> I think I'd like Westeros in the winter >.>

I was one of those crazy ones who joined the unit I am assigned to -knowing- it was deploying, to where, and when. My recruited actually gave me the info before I signed up.
I won't lie. The media might ignore what's going on over here but it is not any better now than years ago. We still lose guys daily. However with the draw-down we can hope your brother-in-law dodges Afghanistan. It will depend heavily on his MOS (job) and duty station he is assigned to. With luck, he'll land in a place that just got back :) Keep him in your prayers if you pray or thoughts if you don't. He'll need them in BCT/AIT. Odin.Headstrong

Hnnng i hate having to be polite.. why is it not socially acceptable to tell people that they are *** retards ._.
/grumpy old lady Well it's only acceptable if they are your friend. You can call your friends stupid (or you should be able to at least lol).
It's not socially acceptable to do alot of things, we do alot of those anyways.

I do it all the time! However I veil it under the guise of medical knowledge.
"Oh, so you were out in 136°F and figured "Screw water, I'll drink Red Bull. Now you have a headache and nausea? I don't suppose it has anything to do with, ya know, being stupid." Okay so I don't veil it at all :( Damn Joes. Wait, you should care about being socially acceptable and not call people HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE when they do something stupid? I mean you're not gonna see that *** ever again, most likely, so who gives a ***? (Unless it's work of course)
Damn, my co workers last day was supposed to be tonight but shes not going to be showing up... so into work I go tonight :/
Should I go to that FFXI concert in Berkely, or should I just hold off and continue saving for my trip to Chicago in December?
Ugh, Chicago and December in the same sentence. I'm pretty sure getting there is going to be something like this. |
