Flogging a product means to convince people that what you are selling is better than it actually is and to hype it beyond what it can actually deliver.
In this context, Bleach has been going on for so long that it's become a victim of it's own success, even amongst fans the general concensus is that it's on it's last legs, yet because it has been such a success in the past, the people behind Bleach appear intent on churning out more and more because the fans will keep watching it even if it becomes awful.

bleach has always been good despite kubo's 5 lines of dialogue per snail paced issue. it's a manga that despite going on for over 10 years is still an interesting story. it's the anime adaptation that is the abomination.
