No, I get that part Ina. But in that same cave are lvl 50 jellies you can't run past. They are in the same tunnel as the crabs. The lvl 50 jellies hit my 50 mnk in full evade build for 200+ a hit and there are like 5 in that tunnel >_<

Run faster and out run mobs, ranged attack mobs prove an issue though.

Well honestly, it's pretty f-in stupid that you're suddenly invincible when on a choco in XI. You can not only get hit, but you can get knocked off your mounts in 14.

And you're not invincible, cuz you can get hit in XI while on a chocobo, just not knocked off.

That you did Laff, but really it was stupid. Don't get me wrong, I abuse that function in all the other FF games, but it makes sense in 14 that you aren't protected by some magic choco-shield lol.

I've always thought that kinda weird as well... like to chocobos give off some kind of smell that mobs hate? I'd think most aggressive mobs look at it and think mmm dinner.

And you're not invincible, cuz you can get hit in XI while on a chocobo, just not knocked off.
The concept in most other FFs was that you were outrunning/evading the mobs before a battle can start.

Still seems weird that there is only one mob that actually acts on its chocobo appitite. Well I guess there is Tactics where you save boco but thats all that comes to mind, you spend more time killing chocobos in that game then riding them though XD.

Interesting, I missed seeing that/that one o.O... So it would seem it is something about our scent + the chocobos that drives them away. Well we never shower so not suprising.

Ina. I'm startin up brd in 14. I'm lvl 32. What kind of end-game stuff am I lookin at (other than darklight) for brd? Do I stick with AF since it enhances songs (since as you know you can't gear swap in active mode), or do I go with a dex build?

Yeah, you can't. It's not that there is a penalty, you just can't. Game doesn't allow it. It's a vastly different game than XI. I honestly love it's combat system.

Edit: Yeh you can swap with it in a way.

You gotta disengage to swap though, it's kind of a hassle. Especially when playing a job like bard. Whm you can kind of do it, and blm too, since you never actually engage though.

Pretty much this. If I'm playing multiple songs, I don't bother with any enhancing gear and I have different sets for DDing when I play only one song.

Endgame gear youd preferably want a double Piety body, double piety legs, Dex on Gloves.

Piety is Bards main stat, Dex is its secondary~
