Most people don't like conflict... sometimes it just isn't worth it too... also, I get the feeling lots of people don't really want honesty but rather someone of like mindedness...

Honesty is one of those things that a lot of people say they want until they get it...

Some can, some can't. When we live in a world where people can and will sue you over the tiniest thing, you can see why many appear to be too fearful of speaking their mind to anyone. Now this is of course a stretch on the idea.

Then we can also go into talk of how there's a possibility of the person's opinion being in the minority, which not many truly like being a part of. People are cruel, and nobody enjoys being "shunned" or simply unheard and abused.
