Yeah it's gonna be a joke of a class, but hell it transfers to the University I'm gonna go to and covers a required PE so hell yeah!

I haven't a clue about that, I haven't looked really at the Raspberry pi (although i do want to get one!)

I ordered one earlier, hopefully it comes with the dsi connectors, as it would give me an extra option for adding a screen

Raspberry Pi is a cheap product to mess with so I guess if you want to experiment with hardware that wouldn't be a bad idea. The board looks pretty crammed so I think it would be difficult to do though. Not that you shouldn't do it, a learning experience will always be beneficial even if unsuccessful.

As for the SD Card used for OS, it's not just OS but everything. From my understanding it's essentially your primary hard drive. Secondary hard drives can be connected via USB/USB Hubs.

Edit: Also, you ordered one? They're available for pre-order / order by demand now? You go through RS or Farnell?

and it's not that crammed since it has a header.

looks like SD interfaces via SPI so it shouldn't be difficult, and I'm looking to use it for an application, one where the OS card will be secured, inside and the one I add will be for what I'm doing. (basically for storage or w/e, and I could just use a usb> sd adapter or a straight usb type system, may still but I want to know what my options are.)

do you live in a humid or arid climate?

as long as you handle it properly and don't be static stupid you can use it without a case (same with a pc), or you could just sit it in a little case from radio shack or something...
