Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?
lol I glanced over that and thought you were talking about his awesome dwarfs. <.<
Oh, I agree. Calling out someone's mistake isn't winning an argument. Also semantics. I might have done that once or twice before (*coughonthisforumcoughcough*) but I know better than that, now. You don't win because they spelled a word wrong.
Also, I've never seen his dwarves, so I'm unsure of their awesomeness. Fenrir.Niniann said: » /nod. Only thing that irritates me more than incorrect use of that stuff, is that my iPhone tries to ninja-edit those words into the wrong things. For example you can't type its without fighting, it'll always auto-correct to it's. Infuriating. Oh god, I wanted to throw my phone across the room when it tried to do that same thing to me. I promptly just cancelled everything else I was doing and immediately turned auto-correct off. Odin.Sawtelle said: » U all need 2 chill out. I've seen a couple people do that. For what reason, I don't know. How do you confuse those two words! I didn't see it for very long though, as they quickly made it to my black list. I think I hang out with the wrong crowds grammatically lol Trying to decide which is more annoying though; horrible errors or people ignoring a valid point and deflecting using anything they can regarding grammar. First guy: "You get Sea access after you fight the Snoll" Second guy: "No sea comes after the Tenzen fight" First guy: "lolololol it's "Sea," capitalized dumbass. Sea is a proper noun" *walks away* omg this dog -_- there are 2 plates full of dog food. yet she cries cuz she sees one piece of food next to a bottle or something on the floor and she cant get it. so she cries and cries and cries. this happens close to every night -_- her crying is really low though, so it takes a while for me to even notice but when i do omg i wanna throw a table at her
I actually am a douche, and have a blackeye to prove it!
I agree, that having better grammar does not count as winning an argument though. Especially something like "Sea"/"sea" in your example. IE: if someone says "HAI, WUTS DA BEST WS HAT FOR WAR?" I cant help but feel like thats how they would talk in a job interview, and thus feel compelled to correct them under the assumption no one else in their life will. :/ "Shits situational, unlike proper English; which you obviously lack." Not you, you. The "you" who talks like you described. Bahamut.Rulerofdarkness said: » Story time? I went out drinking last night, and when I get drunk my competitive/mean side takes over more than it usually does. I got into a verbal fight with someone (that I probably started, but honestly dont remember) at one of the bars we went to. At some point his probably 300 pound girlfriend walked over and I started making fun of him for liking fat girls(NOTE: I dont have an issue with fat people, I just use whats available to me when I'm trying to think of insults). After some time of this I said "Honest answer: On a scale of 1 to 10, is Shamu an 11 or a 12?" which made him lose it and hit me. I then proceeded to make fun of him for hitting like a ***(despite knocking me out of my chair). Needless to say, we both got kicked out. At the next bar I gloated about how I got in a fight with someguy and kicked his ***. Everyone was drunk and believed me. It was awsome. Bismarck.Magnuss said: » Another one... using "of" instead of "have". I should of done that thing... Grah! this was actually brought about due to the contractions with 'have' should've, could've, would've, etc. the pronunciation sounds almost identical to should of, could of, would of Bahamut.Rulerofdarkness said: » Odin.Sawtelle said: » Josiahkf said: » I looked it up just now to understand exactly where it originated, can't remember how I picked it up. Bu...it...ah...um... I got nothing. I dont think proper grammar is situational. Its either correct or not. There are verbs that conjugate differently in spanish, but its not situational if Ser is Eres or Ses(I hope to god i'm remembering my spanish right).
Edit: That is to say correct enough. Something like Lisa is tall, sexy, and smart. and Lisa is tall, sexy and smart. Are to my understanding both effectively correct. Where: Lisa is tall sexy and smart. or Lisa is, tall, sexy, and smart. Are wrong. Josiahkf said: » I'm guessing he meant the way you say something and the "right way" to say something might not be "correct" way to make one's point etc >mfw RT turns in to a grammar thread
I may have had a hand in that...
