just got home, went to see a monster truck show, it was awesome!

Well operation go to bed early so I can get in a good sleep habit for school has failed. I woke up at 2 AM after only 5 hours of sleep -_-

it was!
1st half of the show was so so. it was a tourney based race around the track, and 2 trucks got *** up before their races started (faulty engine start or something), so their opponents defaulted to the next race, and one, El Toro Loco got totally wrecked on a turn lol.

2nd half was free styling. the 1st group was kinda slow, as some did pourly on their stunts (mostly the rookies) but did see some chaos on the track. one blew a tire off during a jump, another broke its axis, 2 blew their engine and one's engine went up in flames, and a couple flipped wrecks lol
the show stoppers....
El Toro Loco came back, totally wrecked and chuncks of its frame missing, did a bunch of crazy stunts, never stopping or slowing down and ended up wrecking it up as it did its final stunts...
Grave Digger also did a bunch of crazy stunts, at some point, it started spinning and a wheel just flies off....
it kept on running, spinning, jumping and doing stunts with 3 wheels like a boss lol

In my appartment building on the landing of every flight of stairs we have "fire equipment" such as fire extinguishers and such. If the fire alarm in the building goes off, everyone is told to head to these stairs to evacuate. Why is it you have to break glass to get to fire equipment? What part of broken glass in the main evacuation route adds to the safety of a burning building.

Edit: I thought it was so fire people would know the sruff hadn't been tampered with when they got there, but the actual fire hose doesn't appear to be in one of the glass cases.

I think it's special glass that breaks along a certain mesh pattern that causes the glass to be relatively safe.

Or something like that. I heard some Material Engineers talking about it the other day.

I would assume something like that, I put my thick soled hiking boots by my panic kit just in case :/.

O.o Holy crap. I just totally cracked out on SWTOR.

From my understanding it is partially safe, the glass is designed in such a way that it shouldn't be dangerous unless you're physically trying to hurt yourself with it. Also, the glass is there for multiple reasons. I'm a Resident Assistant at the complex I live in and I'm basically highest in command after 6 pm every night. So for the past couple months we've had a couple fire alarms go off and I've had to deal with the firemen and they've explained to me the ropes about it mostly. The glass is there for one to show tampering and that the equipment is still in working order. If you look at the fire alarms you pull on the wall, they have glass rods that are broken when pulled so that also shows tampering. Its pretty sucky.. I think back in November we had someone rip a fire alarm out of the wall and my roommate and I were put on firewatch for over 12 hours (meaning we had to walk up every building (We have 6) and basically BE the fire alarms). It was a horrible horrible day..
