Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?

And that's odd for me, I usually like bloody, gory, fighter-type movies. But there just wasn't enough plot, it was fight scene after fight scene after fight scene, and by the end I was quite sick of it actually. Plus the wife! The husband is off at battles bragging up how tough the Spartan women are, and then when the wife is assaulted in her own home she does bloody nothing. The woman is half useless until the very end. Crying out loud lady, do your man proud and at least TRY to beat the holy crap out of people who try to hurt you. /facepalm. I knew I should have edited that post. -.-; Damn you Seha.
I own that version. I'd rather have a slightly more historically accurate crap version than something that's nothing but eye candy. >.> oh god Seha might twist this too... It lives up to hype and expectation of being based on a graphic novel, by Frank Miller no less. Pretty much balls to the wall, high octane, non-stop violence similar to that of Sin City.
If it's your cup of tea and you have respect for the extremely exaggerated display of storytelling similar to to verbal passage of ancient times, then you'll likely enjoy it as that is likely how those of their time saw those events in their eyes, despite being historically inaccurate and as previously mentioned: highly exaggerated. But really, were you expecting Oscars? It displays an all out war between Spartans and Pursians with some boobs and sex on the side, pretty much a guy flick and nothing else. It's interesting, but I think a lot of what determines if a movie is good or not is overall expectations of what is to be delivered. Logically one wouldn't see Transformers movies expecting a logical or compelling storyline with twists and turns in the plot to deliver a breath-taking climax. No, anyone worth their salt would see it for two things only: robots and explosions. In that respect, they certainly delivered, and therefore were decent movies for what I wanted/expected out of them. However, there's the shades of grey where it's not fully understood what is to be delivered as some titles and previews or even movies themselves so vague and contrasted that you're not really sure what to expect or even evaluate once the film is done. But if a film can entertain you or at the very least examine and think about the details and complexities therein, it's a decent film. A good example of that was probably my first viewing of Pulp Fiction. Every 10-20 minutes I was asking myself "Is this a crime thriller? A vague and complex romance? Some sort of vague evolution of character development?" I never knew what to expect or what to say even when it was over. Then again Quentin Tarantino jumps all over the freakin place. You guys know what was a good movie? I haven't seen it in ages but now I want to watch it again.
Robin Hood, that's what! Odin.Liela said: » You guys know what was a good movie? I haven't seen it in ages but now I want to watch it again. Robin Hood, that's what! my 10 year old nephew got bored watching that, and asked if he could go play instead. i've never wanted to strike a child, but... Quetzalcoatl.Yomisha said: » Oh, I see. I found that the actors were not right for the dialogue they had to perform and because of that it came out ridiculous.
