Nope they're in New Mexico as well.. Never even heard of them until a friend of my wife moved there and told us about them.

Oh. Well still. They aren't venomous. They eat slugs and other pests.

Still creepy looking <_< I'm not afraid of spiders, but I don't think I'd like one of those crawling on me.

For a rough reference, 3 inches is about as long as the average man's middle finger, or so.

Arachnids and insects sure look strange, but at the same time some of them are so fascinating. I usually wind up smashing them though :/ Can't ever get them into the cup.

That said, I really hate wasps, and bees by extension. Got stung a ton as a kid.

I got stung by a lot by bees too.. A regular honey bee sting doesn't even phase me anymore.. At most it just feels slightly sore, I don't even feel a sharp sting.. Still I don't like being stung..

I'm yet to be stung by any wasp though, and I'd rather avoid that.. We have Yellow Jackets and Red Wasps out the *** down here.. Those two are probably the most painful thing you could be stung by around here..

Fire Ants can suck too, in large numbers.. I once didn't notice I was standing in a Fire Ant bed, by the time I noticed and got them off me I had been stung about 30 times.

When I was about 4, one of those latched onto my shoulder because I had spilled some grape sugary thing there. It ate a hole in my shirt. I find it weird thinking about it now, because generally they only prey on other bugs. :/ Freaked me the hell out.

Generally most of my stings came from wasps. Generally just red wasps/paper wasps. :/ Generally I never thought of Yellowjackets as being wasps, but they are apparently. The red kind though. Those... are the worst. I was stung on my forehead and the side of my head near the temple once. :/ Freaking things. Haven't been stung in a long time now, generally because I freak out and go inside or run far away when one buzzes around me. They get pissed off so easy.

Doesn't matter which one it is, step on any of them and get the stinger between your toes, it hurts like hell.
