Yup, The mucus actually helps prevent illness by trapping bacteria within it, this is why it is commonly Green or yellow when you're ill... And picking your nose and eating it, you're essentially helping your immune system by taking in different bacteria so you wont be so succeptible to illnesses involving said bacteria.

Don't pick your nose and eat it though :P
