Anime or manga are no different than books, movies, tv series and videogames. It's just a different way to tell a story: with drawings. People make such a big deal out of it.

Most games aren't bad. So it's not quite the same.

More often than not it's the person who watches the anime that's unbearable, not the anime itself. Which has lead to anime getting a bad rep. (See Kalyna for an example)
