Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?

its in there Bismarck.Josiahkf said: » Odin.Eikechi said: » Bismarck.Josiahkf said: » yeah at 75 outside abyssea, I believe the magian stave had affinity+3 while aquilos was affinity +2. it would still win lol outside..outside only lol inside the HQ staves actually get a massive boost with atma, moreso than the magian ones lol so inside, the HQ staff would beat the +3, actually.. but i agree outside they win, yes (inside too if you have the +6 affinity) Ice staff -> Affinity +1 Aquilo's staff -> Affinity +2 lvl 75 Magians -> Affinity +3 lvl 80 Magians -> Affinity +4 lvl 85 Magians -> Affinity +5 lvl 95 Magians -> Affinity +6 So no matter where you are, aquilo's is not going to beat the dmg of the 75 magian negative mate.. the ToM staves are calculated additively to atma, whereas the +15% boost from Aquilo's for example is calculated AFTER atma.. makes them VERY close when its just +3 affinity.. Aquilo's Staff can get a MAB+3 augment. >.> That's kind of upgradeable.
Note when using atmas within Abyssea: Staves upgraded through the Trial of the Magians quests are calculated differently to the level 51 staves. Magic affinity on magian staves is added and not multiplied to any elemental damage+ atmas. For example using Varuna's Staff +2 and Atma of the Beyond will result in a total of +60% to all ice spells (+30% from Atma and +30% from staff). Using Aquilo's Staff and Atma of the Beyond will result in a total of +49.5% to ice spells (100%+30% from Atma)x15% from staff.
Curiously, this calculation difference causes the level 51 elemental staves to gain strength while using atma which increase magic affinity. As shown in the previous example, using Varuna's Staff +2 with Atma of the Beyond yields a total affinity bonus of 1.6 (60%); however, wielding the level 51 HQ elemental staves actually grant an extra 4.5% bonus to affinity due to the multiplication (130% x 15% = 149.5% instead of 130% + 15% = 145%) Ultimately, the level 51 elemental staves experience greater growth with higher degrees of base (without either staff) magic affinity; however, the base magic affinity required for a level 51 elemental stave to even equal a Magian stave is at least 200% base affinity (200% x 1.15 = 230% HQ stave vs 200% + 30% = 230% Magian stave). THIS is all I'm saying..... this is taken straight from the wiki Fighting over dunes gear >:

THIS is all I'm saying..... this is taken straight from the wiki Josh doesn't seem to get what I'm saying Aust. And given the example I took off the wiki, they are comparitively close.. if you use the lightning atmas as an example, the Jupiter's staff should actually edge it out.. that 5 int isn't gonna make or break anything
And yes josh, this still applies...they haven't changed the entire dmg calculation on ToM just because they hit 95. They were always like this, and still are.

Just wow. You astound me. wat wait how? and for the record, the above calculation was varuna+2, (30%) over Hq staff, so you would have to decrease the value for teiwaz, since +3 affinity is 20%... so let's go ahead and -10 from the above example...(since we can do that, since ToM staves are simply additive)
so ToM +3 affinity is 50% then since the above example used beyond + staff (30 from beyond and 20 from staff), so that yields +50%, whereas the HQ staff as stated above, is 49.5%.. are you really gonna say ToM staff is THAT much better? its .5% inside with beyond.. Lets go ahead and use Thunder Auster, which has 2 accepted dmg+ atma, ToM staff would be 20 + 30 + 30 = 80. So +180% dmg (100 from normal spell dmg + the bonuses...sorry if i'm breaking this down too much, but its just easier to understand that way... Now Jupiter's staff on the other hand, will get +30 from blinding horn, + 30 from lion just like the ToM staff, then add in the 15% bonus from Jupiter's we get 30 + 30 = 60 so 15% added to 160 (100 from spell dmg) we get 160 + 15% (24) = 184% total bonus... so Jupiter's actually beats ToM Teiwaz with +3 when using both lion and blinding horn atmas.. its not much but it does win... And given the example I took off the wiki, they are comparitively close.. if you use the lightning atmas as an example, the Jupiter's staff should actually edge it out.. that 5 int isn't gonna make or break anything bolded cuz i was strictly talking about Jupiter's in that post, when you said no it wont...and it does.. not trying to be a douche..just pointing out that the HQ staves really aren't ALL that much worse, comparitively, inside aby, and outside, the +3 affinity to +2 affinity, is only 5% diff..which Art, may not want to do... ok i'm out..i'll back read when i get back quick edit before i go.. i know you said +30% dmg in affinity (which you were correct), where as when I was talking about Jupiter's, I meant with both atma..there is no reason not to use both....thats why thunder dmg is calc'd in favor of the Jupiter's.. if you have both thunder atma (same with fire) there is no reason to not use them in the atma build..hence the situation changes...not an attack on you Auster, perhaps a misunderstanding between the 2 of us... idk why you'd only use 1 lightning atma...makes no sense Odin.Eikechi said: » Ramuh.Austar said: » I know how the ***works dude.
