Random Thoughts.....What Are You Thinking?

Standard operating procedure for me when boarding an aircraft is to quickly locate my seat, sit down and put on my seatbelt then put on my sunglasses and go to sleep. I always travel in a business suit even though I look like a wolfman and most people give me a wide berth and leave me the hell alone. I'm very curt, but curtious and receptive to courtesty, etc. I'll give you the "head nod of recognition", but I make it very clear I don't want to chit chat for the next three hours with anyone.

Every once in a while someone gets the nerve up to ask me a question, the most common two questions I get are "what can I get you to drink" and "are you going to kill us all?"...........

Drunk with youth and apparently undetered by my menacing appearance, the young lady in the seat next to me struck up a conversation, her side is in italics ......

"I think fate brought us together, we were also sitting by each other in the airport"
"I'm pretty sure it's a coincidence, since everyone sits there, that's the area you wait for this flight."
"I think it's destiny, we were sitting right next to each other
"I'm sorry, I didn't notice you there, but I'm sure it doesn't mean anything."
"no, it does we were ment to be together " /dreamyeyes

Realizing she wasn't going to be easily detered I removed my glasses delivered one of the finest soliloqies of my life.

"I have been faithfully married to my wife for twenty years. I have Nothing to offer you or anyone else. So... (using my fingers to count)I'm married, I'm old, I'm fat, I'm poor, I'm mean, do you need me to go on? (start over finger couning) I snore, I smell, I fart, I talk too loud...I drive a minivan for christsake... Stop me when you have heard enough because I can keep going... You could throw a rock into a flea market and hit a better man than me. In fact you would be hard pressed to find anyone less qualified than I am to be your "whatever you see us being". You think destiny brought us together? Maybe as a wake up call!."

No one on the plane said anything for the next two hours. I put my sunglasses on and went back to sleep.

HEY KIDS!!! Remember Cinderella? It turns out her new mother in law, the queen, was an evil manipuative ***. She never missed an oppertunity to put cinderella "in her place" and Price Charming? He never stood up to his mom for her and the stress this caused in their marraige led him to drink, just like his father... and then the economy turned ugly and they lost their fortune on bad mortgages. So now on top of everything else prince charming has to work sixteen hours day and all that desk work and beer makes him put on a hundred pounds and he starts looking like an aging gorilla. And it finally dawns on cinderella to think "what the hell did I ever see in this guy in the first place?!?!?"

But what she doesn't realize, it's not what she "saw" it's what she didn't see or more importantly what she glossed over. The reality of who he really was, was right there all along. He was a spoiled douche of a prince right out of the box. She thought he was the man of her dreams but as it turns out, he was real. And happily ever after is going to be really disappointing if you expected a steady level of bliss with no side order of reality.

Right, and so the moral of the story is keep your expectations low and NEVER poke the werwolf in the business suit, he is really, really, really mean.
