lost someone close to me today. so many different thoughts and emotions right now. keep wanting to try to make it coherent but that's probably not going to happen. how's that for random?

A little bit sad, but thanks for venting. Talking about it helps, even if only a little bit. Helps process the experience.

If you need to vent more, feel free too! I feel for ya man, and sorry that you lost them.

A random magazine had Bill Gates in its cover, with the highlight:
"How geniuses are born?"

Well, I suppose their mom just lay down, put their legs to the air while the doctor starts pulling it out.

This is how geniuses are suppose to born, i think

Someone should have shoved him back in and left him there.

after 4 years, and using it once, i finally have cancelled planet fitness... They just changed the laws in NY and now they are required to cancel your membership if you request it and it can be done online, before you had to go physically to the location or mail a notarized form. The law change a week ago finally put them in their place

Their entire business model is billing people who are too lazy to cancel it. Even if you don't see the money as significant enough, you're enabling the shitty practice by letting them keep doing it. The law is a welcome addition, but refusing to stop by and cancel it is the equivalent of preordering games. Don't reward shitty business practices.

They are justifiably famous for setting massive roadblocks in the path to cancellation.* I occasionally run across "Yay! I managed to cancel my planet fitness membership" stories on the web.

Congrats Draylo and New York state!!!

*They are far from alone in this business model.

I mean if you go to cancel it and they make you go through hoops, just call bank and say "stop payment".

I'm aware they shouldnt be running a predatory business model that makes it impossible to cancel.

If you do that they will take you to collections and cite their contract that nobody reads. They were incredibly predatory and i always put it off because they force you to go to the exact location you signed up at, now that's not possible in NY

I sent them an email after seeing this video and they canceled it the next day lol

First time I got prime I didn't properly cancel, and i got charged a 2nd month. I'm still mad, and that was years ago.

How do people just let these things run on when they don't want it, it's not even about the money but more the principle of people stealing your money that bothers me.

As "shitty business practice", Pre-ordering games aren't on the same level as the subscription services that lack easy cancel button though, not even close.

Not giving customers an easy cancel button for subscription services doesn't add more value to the services offered.

On the other hand, pre-ordering games often offer customer pre-order bonus therefore it added value for the products that they purchased.

Also pre-ordering games kinda functions based on customers trusts on their previous products. But removing cancel buttons functions based on creating inconvenience or burden for the customer.

2 very different things.

That lunk alarm is the dumbest *** thing I've ever seen in a gym. I remember it going off once and I nearly ***myself, it was so damned loud it left my ears ringing. All because some middle aged mom dropped the bar right next to it. I get they are trying to make the place more approachable but having sirens go off in a gym with free weights when a clunk is heard is insanely obnoxious.

and yea I've had a subscription with them for 5 years now and I quit going 3 years ago. I honestly just forget, but that's their strategy. I'd still take it over LA Fitness, place is like walking into a frat house.

I used LA Fitness for a few years until I moved out to an apartment with a gym, and when i got my house we just got some equipment that is in the garage (cuz those are not meant for cars! that would be a waste of space)

When I did leave LA Fitness I recall the cancelation being "annoying" but I just needed to go in and from there it was pretty easy I have a solid resting *** face for these types of interactions.

I really enjoy owning my own equipment, plus a cold morning in the garage really wakes you up.

I tried that and it just doesn't work for me, if I don't get up and go somewhere I get distracted too easily. I work with a trainer too because I just don't push myself as hard when I'm alone and I need special help (for varying reasons but mainly due to neuropathy in both arms).

LA Fitness was always so pretentious feeling to me, it's the type of gym I'd go into and just feel uncomfortable. I also have had a few friends over the years that worked there as trainers and they all universally said the company treats their staff very poorly.

Mine now is real low key, local place, small - everything from old people up to people who are competitive weightlifters, everyone is super nice and chill. The owner had a pizza food truck for a while too and used to sell gym members pizzas for really cheap so that's an added perk (or was), now we just go next door for home made poptarts

I used a trainer for a bit when i was just starting going to the gym and that helped me understand what workouts were good for me really liked the experience.

I like my little home gym setup have a tv that I watch some anime that I like but only exclusively watch it while working out to help keep me motivated to go out and do it.

I guess I still have a "trainer" I take some private dance lessons with my husband once a week and our instructor is strict in a fun way.

My good deed for at least a week. I got a costumer service rep laughing his head off.

"Well, its my housemate's account but my phone. She doesn't believe in Smartphones. We're both 80, be happy that one of us does." It continued on from that note. The roomie was laughing too. I was trying hard to stay coherent so merely giggled.

It varies. Most is 180 proof, that's 10% and as high as it gets in WA without a special license. Not for the store, for the user. I have seen it as low as 150 proof in upstate NY, 75%.

It is said that pure ethanol is so hygroscopic it will suck moisture out of the air and instantly dilute to 95%. Even if the humidity is under 5%.

My pedantic side rarely leads to good deeds.
