I am very disappointed.

Despite all of my effort, probably over 100 hours of shoveling, all of the meltwater from the surrounding area is draining directly toward our house. The City kept plowing the back lane, but not really scraping down to any drains. With all the ice, the back lane is taller than the grade, so there's just a constant stream pouring directly into our basement.

Hopefully the sand bags and pump will help. But jeez I spent the last 4 months shoveling almost every day specifically to avoid this exact outcome. Tomorrow's going to be another hot day, too :/

What is hot there like at this time of year?

We were expecting +1 to +2 Celsius (~34 Fahrenheit) all week, which would have been perfect, but the last two days soared past that forecast to +8C (46F) and are expecting much the same tomorrow.

It's not "hot", but it's leagues beyond melting temperature, and we were hoping for a slow melt given the sheer volume of snow we had over the winter. We're in a valley that draws in all the melt from North Dakota and accumulates as it flows north. If all that snow melts too quickly it'll overwhelm the bypasses.

We spent all evening Friday and all day Saturday cleaning eavestroughs and making sure the downspouts were pointed away, clearing paths in the 9 foot tall mountains of snow for water to travel through. Pretty pointless making it all flow into the back lane when the back lane diverts straight into our window wells >_>;

I just dont like it, sometimes the hype isnt always right. I'm sure its a good game for most but its not for me. Wont ever buy another souls game again

GRRM created the setting. The events that led to the shattering, the characters involved, the gods and demigods, the locations and overarching lore. He did what he does best: he built a history and a world. Miyazaki then took that foundation and added the usual Miyazaki flair to what we see in the present day events of the game.

Things like the shattered, fallen remnants of the castle in the sky/great temple ruins and their stone golem sentinels were GRRM's work.

More media needs to do this exact thing. It's pretty much always visible when someone arranges a high fantasy setting without thinking about anything before the immediate present. At best they'll conjure just enough backstory to make things sound important, but there's a nagging feeling as the audience that it's super shallow.

I still haven't played Elden Ring, but I'm digging the idea that they gave the whole world a fleshed-out backstory. But given the aversion a few of you have shown towards the gameplay, maybe I'll hold off until a sale. I probably wasn't going to pick it up anytime in the near future anyway. But I do want to vote with my wallet for games that build good worlds and don't cram microtransactions down your throat.

Eden Ring is for that specific group of masochists.

I'm mildly shocked someone into XI wouldn't be into Eden Ring. It's constant ball punching, you should love that aspect. Finding the most broken thing and spamming the *** out of it. Min/maxing or wasting your time is peak XI.

Anyway. The concept is neat, the literal nothing becomes the champion of the universe. It has a pony! Dope cinematics. Huge variety of spells/weapons. Bad *** design dragons.

It's more fun to watch (a longplay not speedrun)((from someone actually good, watching loldeadagainteehee stopped being funny at dark souls 1)) than to play. Unless you're into said ballpunching.

Dang. Between Unreal's playable Matrix tech demo and now this one from Unity which is also supposedly rendered in real-time, I'd say we're real close to climbing out of the uncanny valley.

I was looking at Sokka's grey tabby cat face the other day and something clicked: this whole time Mithra tattoos are supposed to resemble those tabby stripes. How have I been playing FFXI for most of my life and only just now noticing this?
