Oh neat, I don't know which streaming service it came out on but the "Sopranos" prequel is out.
The Many Saints of Newark
Really not great. I'm not a big Sopranos guy though so maybe it hit different.

HBOmax for a month as well as currently in theaters. I enjoyed it, but only looked at it as another chapter in that world, not honestly from that storyline. There were some fun easter eggs for the deep dive, and I definitely appreciated that David Chase opted to make a unique story rather than try and re-write something from the original. Certainly no original Sopranos quality, but a fun watch I thought.
I guess I was expecting Tony's rise to power. They prequel'd to hard and shot the prequel before the prequel.

but it disappoints by marketing itself as a Tony Soprano origin story, then mostly following Uncle Dickie Moltisanti, leaving Young Tony on the periphery.
And it spent a lot of time on the era (the racism etc) and not the story. They go together to set a tone and all that, it's just the percentages felt off. Not super interested in the race riots... on a mafia movie.
