I know it's not super balanced, but damn is Summoner a satisfying job in this game. The long cast time with the epic summoning animation, the gravity of their movements, the impact of their sound effects.
A lot of what I like about this game is the rewarding payoff for pretty much everything. Ragnarok.Jessikah said: » I know it's not super balanced, but damn is Summoner a satisfying job in this game. FFXI did the "game-feel" right, but aside from Astral Flow, the job didn't (doesn't?) have a real identity. XIV made the job hella strong, but the summons are a joke and never gives you the satisfaction that you'd get from the job in any other Final Fantasy game. lol I did my opinion on XIV SMN, and had their defenders try to persuade me otherwise. I really think its the worst representation of SMN in the series.

I would probably agree with this, and throw XII in there as well. There wasn't a summoner class in that game, and the Espers were completely useless before the midway point in the story. It was a huge step down from X, which obviously was heavy on the summoner job. Yeah 13 was bad too, the summons were also ugly imo.
Viciouss said: » X I know 'X' had a lot of issues, but it really was the highlight for a few things. It was the pinnacle of the turn-based system, had really satisfying and fun-to-use limit breaks (Overdrives), and its Summoner mechanics were great.
Summoner-wise, I'd argue things started to dip after that, with XI being a little bit weaker just to accommodate the MMO half of the MMORPG genre. And then XII changed things up a bit too much. Then XIII was... probably the worst game I've ever played in my life. I haven't played XV yet, so I can't comment. XVI looks pretty summon-focused so we'll see if it picks up from there. How in the actual hell did that game get so many sequels? SE was in serious financial peril with the botched 14 launch, they just shoveled out cheap, no budget sequels to generate revenue. NOT for the better. Its like how many times do I have to enter which password? So many tries, so many fails. Ever log into XIV? Why can't it work like that? (PS players have it even easier.) its sad because private servers run without pol, WASINT the point of pol to be a gate way to future online SE games? cant buy my gf a gift on the mog station because they dont let you gift items that are on sale. jesus christ se

It might have worked if they kept supporting it, but they didn't. Garuda.Chanti said: » Ragnarok.Jessikah said: » I know it's not super balanced, but damn is Summoner a satisfying job in this game. A lot of what I like about this game is the rewarding payoff for pretty much everything. They're going the right direction with Bahamut and Phoenix! It'll never quite be like FFXI's SMN, because of the balancing they need to do for it, and because of the lore of Egi use vs. Primal use. But it was dang fun to play in ever iteration, at least I thought so. I like FFXI summons better too. Not only are they more nostalgic, but definitely cooler with more utility based in the summons themselves. Not sure how FFXI SMN functions nowadays. I assume you have so much refresh and -perpetuation cost that you can maybe full time an avatar if it's advantageous? I just remember at 75 cap, in anything serious, they summoned them up, used the Blood Rage/Blood Ward, and then put'em back in their pocket. And the leveling experience was like, being a discount WHM that could sorta somewhat buff your party or soloing pets and junk. Ugh, these FFXIV Zadnor duels are ticking me off. For the uninformed, if basically involves a several-minute 1v1 vs. an enemy with ridiculous mechanics that kill you if you make a single mistake, many of which don't have tells and you have to memorize exactly what to do. To add insult to injury, people are usually just standing around watching you fail.
There's a "cheese" strat where you can kill them within a minute, but you basically have to execute a complex series of timed ability uses perfectly. If you do it right but die later, the DoT can still kill them so long as auto-reraise goes off, which has an 80% chance to work. And that 80% chance has failed me almost every single time. Those complex feelings...
On one side, there is the total lack of interest in interacting with my family. On the other side, there is a heavy feeling of guilty for me being like that. On top of that, there is an anger of having to deal with this every time my sister find whatever reason to confraternize with family. The anger of having to deal with a question with no solution. Both alternatives arent satisfatory. Finally, there is my logical sense telling me that my relationship with my family is not balanced as I basically do all my material duties (like buying presents, paying for bills, covering some problems that have nothing to do with me) and gain nothing but more compromises. If anything, i guess writing all that helps reducing the anger part. Then I will plitely refuse meet them tonight. Panta, I moved 2400 miles (4000 km) from my family.
It REALLY helped. Your shine….. its dazzing…..
