I don't think this is worth making a new thread for because I don't expect many answers anyway. But I'd like to quickly survey at least the fine folks of the RT thread.
If you could play the part of any kind of character (fictional or otherwise), what kind of stuff would that character do? No boundaries: any time period, any universe, any cool powers. Even if you only give me names like Saitama from One Punch Man or Avatar Aang. It could be something simple like "space pirate", "mech pilot", or "superhero", or a lengthy description of a completely original idea. You're also more than welcome to add more than one if you'd like!
I'm trying to "stress-test" a personal project of mine by plugging in various character concepts.

Also, there seem to be a lot of people who want "random thoughts" to not be a general, all-encompassing concept, but, rather something akin to "random thoughts about memes" or "random thoughts about cats".

Dr. Manhattan but less apathetic and more willing to actually use powers. Ya know, everything the same but poof people out of existence for being a detriment.
boring but enjoyable.

I write a lot of characters who destroy themselves to obtain power, and power obtained that destroys them in turn. So, something along those lines might help you quantify skill development that constantly kills your character.

The Man in Black in either version of Westworld. Gimme an entire realistic theme park to shoot up my frustrations after 11 months of running a global corporation. I'd even take the going insane bit at the end of an attempt at immortality- hey at least I would have tried.

I mean, I think the whole idea of that is so no one visiting the forums has to worry about seeing something offensive or otherwise triggering. Not to mention keep arguments wherein all parties are dead set in their ways of thinking and aren't going to concede no matter what the argument is.
Therefore, whether something is political or religious is irrelevant. It's whether the discussion is stoking a fire. Just to play it safe, we'd probably be wise not to even pursue topics like GMO's. You can blame Rooks for that then.
We had a section for this type of discussion, but then Rooks shut it down and never opened it up again, even though that section can be generally ignored by the public if they wanted.
So, we all have to tiptoe around pretty much most topics now because it can be construed as political to some parties.
Sure, the general concept of GMOs aren't, but you accuse people of socialism or anti-capitalistic tendencies, even in jest, and guess what? A political discussion is born!

The thread has always been about cats, memes and random daily stuff that happened to someone. I'll refrain from posting "controversial" stuff here from now on.
2016 ruined the internet and many peoples minds in general, it is what it is and it's not going to change.

Doesn't have to be. Kind of an absolutist way of thinking about things. I could easily use concepts from a communist or capitalist frame work to illustrate points about a bunch of different social issues without it being expressly political. While politics obviously touches on a whole host of social subjects, it doesn't mean the concepts have to flow both ways. I sense your underlying hostility toward our spiritual leader, but you may want to relax a bit.

But it is the way things are now, especially in the realm of social media.
I hate having to tiptoe around topics because it might offend somebody. But it is what it is, and until things drastically change, that's the way things are now.

All human intercommunication should be terminated. It's something humans have clearly proven unable to use.
Literally go back and try again.
It's only going to get worse. Inarguable.

I think it only becomes political if you use it insultingly instead of in any meaningful context. For example "What are you? Some kind of communist?!"
The fact is, though, if someone suddenly drops an opinion out of nowhere, each direct response is going to fall into one of two categories:
1. They agree with you (which amounts to nothing)
2. They disagree with you (which will spark an argument)
(So either a waste of time, or angry happens)
Granted, it's not an easy thing to ignore. I absolutely love spewing my own opinions lol - either prompted or unprompted. Something I'm trying to train myself with is the ability to halt my opinion when the two scenarios I mentioned above are the only possible outcomes.
On the other hand, if one or both parties are receptive to feedback, it fosters growth. There are just certain topics that likely won't end well with discussion.
For example, when I was in high school I wrote a 3-verse song to the tune of Jingle Bells to express my utter hatred for World of Warcrap. Fight me :P

Either way, that's a skill that was murdered back in the late 2000s. One could argue as early as March 21, 2006.
It wasn't put to rest, it wasn't cast aside, it was cold-blooded murdered.

Sure, if the "argument" or, hopefully, discussion is between two people who are fixed in their views with no hope of ever seeing another side. Then, sure, it's all meaningless. Some people get caught up in "winning" instead of learning, and that ruins things. I tend to be a person who believes discussion can birth new ideas and change people's existing frame works. If I was set on something, and someone offered me a counterpoint that made my position impossible or irrevocably implausible, then I change what I believe to reflect that new revelation. I guess... I just believe that discussion between people of different view points has inherent value if the people are engaging to broaden and deepen their understanding of the world.

In this sorta context the new Walking Chaos is pretty good...
Only a couple minutes in but the concept is your thoughts literally manifest. Everyone can see your thoughts. A lot harder to be full of ***when it literally comes spilling out of your head lol.

"Blame" is often a useless word because it's so often used to imply 100% fault when that is rarely the case. There were a lot of hands in that cookie jar, and it's pointless to talk about it now.
Now let's get back to the cats, memes, and cat memes.

tl;dr: Sorry about that.
If you're quoting me, I've said nothing that would lock a thread.
You would think that until you realize that it's not your opinion of your words that determines when a thread gets locked. It's not open to your interpretation and up to the discretion of the staff that seem more than willing to lock small threads for less. Sorry if it seemed like I was singling you out. I wasn't trying to and now see that I did. It was less of what any individual said and more of a combined effort leading towards the thread going to "the bad place" that triggers people. Basically don't even use the words "politics and religion", even as a meme, or as something to point to in any way. This thread will carry on as, I'm sure, in 27,000 pages there has been worse let slide.
Let us all bury our heads in the sand. This is the land of:
Also, there's apparently a band called "Trash Panda"
Every meme becomes a band name.
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
