I grew up wearing watches, gave them up when I became a beatnik. Haven't worn one since.

But now I have a timepiece on the computer in my pocket or purse...

why do people buy lil action figures and trinkets from video games/anime and dedicate shelves to them? iunno, but i wont begrudge them. watches can be an investment, and an heirloom. they have style and are actually things made out of a tremendous effort and level of craftsmanship lost in the world.

i mean, yeah fashion.

My brother buys them for fashion. My dad has one he uses for semi-practical purposes. He wears the watch upside down so it looks like he's wearing platinum band, then he folds his hands when talking to people so he can glance down to check the time while he's pretending to be interested in their conversation.

I used to wear a watch all the time. It was around the end of high school that I think my cat or dog ate the wristband and I just never bothered to fix it. People even bought me new watches for Christmas and stuff, but I just never got back into it.

It was probably around that time that I got my first cell phone.

i used to have the most lovely gun metal pocket watch. i would sit clicking it open and snapping it closed over and over. was my focus point when evenings got crazy.

Who knows whats the thinking going on on those dogs.

Maybe when the gate is closed, then the idea of property becomes explicit then one dog sees the other as an potential invader.

Then, when gate is open, that idea vanishes and arises the idea of common place, or group.
