but bouncy games such as the Senran Gakura series, they just choose to remove the age on the character profile, and keep the game as unedited and original as they can. (side note, there is a senran gakura coming out for the switch.)
VN's (and similar) have been witch hunted before, regardless if they have a +18 mod/patch or not. not because of the characters, but because it was easy to access (they where told not to provide patch links in each game's discussion boards)
just because these games don't come from big game studios with money, they think they can just come in and push them over.

Not really. Free speech means you can't suppress speech it doesn't mean you have to listen or help support and promote it on your platform. Almost any online gathering of user generated information has some list of rules and no nos. And it's all perfectly fine as long as it's based on content or sometimes specific users based on previous behavior.

the outrage was not a thing of free speech, but rather double standards, as Steam was picking on anime VN (and hurting this genre even if they where clean games) while other genres where left untouched

it is just a case of double standards, where the No's only applied to some and not all.
