What the ***?

What if you're a normal person who hunts, kills, and either processes or pays to process his own?

Also, hunting isn't zero cost, you have to buy a license and possibly a tag depending on laws in your area at the least. Then there's ammo and fuel, possibly pay a butcher if you're lazy like me or a *** invalid. If you do like we do and go camp for a week, there's groceries and whatnot.

The biggest cost is the one you’re forgetting actually; multiple large freezers running year round.
We have that regardless and ours is from like, the 50's. Costly as ***but it's a damn good freezer. Getting a whole moose in it would be a challenge though.

I should make deer sketti tomorrow.

It’s two men with many freezers and remember they are giving the entire family many pounds of ground meat, moose hot dogs, roasts, steaks etc

Why being a professional butcher helps so much yeah, it takes a long *** time to utilize every cut of a moose and you need strong atvs to even drag it to your truck upon killing. That’s why it’s best to cut it up ASAP upon kill to get that internal temp down fast and keep it safe longer.
We usually let a deer hang overnight like two nights if it's cold outside. I dunno how moose is different.

No Nik. We are only allowed to hunt one moose per two men per year now due to lower populations. Living off the land is a bit harder in 2017.

So you try to bag one during hunting season then you butcher all the cuts up and freeze them so you have zero cost meat all year round. Grow your own potatoes and veggies in the summer and bam, you’re set, even in a frozen swamp at the North Pole. And since it’s winter for most of the year here, you eat a lot of frozen food. Stews and Bannock ftw

But that’s the cost of staying on your people’s land.

I like stories.
